Illegal Immigrant Taxpayers to Benefit From House-Approved Stimulus Plan

WASHINGTON — The $146 billion stimulus package intended to jolt the economy by giving taxpayers rebates up to $1,200 includes cash returns for illegal immigrants who pay taxes.

Under the plan passed by the House, illegal immigrants who qualify as "resident aliens" and earned a minimum of $3,000 would be eligible for rebates of between $300-$600, FOX News has learned.

Only those illegals who have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number that allows them to file income taxes would be eligible. Resident aliens are defined as people who spend a "substantial" amount of time in the U.S. and have not been deported.

The provision has irked illegal immigration opponents, who say the assigning of TINs and collection of taxes from illegals sanctions their presence in the country.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told FOX News that the bill will certainly stimulate "more illegal immigration."

No, I am not looking for a cowboy action gun right now.

Norinco (China) does make some excellent guns though. Replica double barrel 10 gage Greeners, Winchester 1897 pump trench guns, and other fine arms. Using slave labor make it cheap to build those old handmade style guns.

I am trying to make up my mind between a j-frame, a 1911 style pocket pistol, or a tupperware pocket pistol. .357, 9mm, or .40. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Agreed. Only 47% of citizens pay federal taxes. Why these people are contributing more to America than almost half the country. I say let them stay and throw the other 47% out.

I don’t think you understand. Dad was a resident alien. It was legal for him to live and work there. There’s a real difference between people living and working here legally and paying taxes and those who don’t. I can’t imagine how honoring the law about income tax means you don’t honor our laws.

They can’t be completely “illegal” if they pay taxes. My dad lived, worked and paid taxes in Saudi for over 20 years...does that make him an “illegal”?

Apples and oranges, Sir/Mam!

I don't think that your dad "sneaked in" Saudi Arabia. If he did, he would have been sticking out like a sore thumb and would have been punished, deported or both. It sounds to me that your dad was quite legal in SA, wasn't he?

I used to have a tagline that said: Name one country, other than the USA, that doesn't control its border.

So far, I haven't gotten an answer! Do you happen to have one??

I’d rather an illegal immigrant paying taxes benefit than a citizen that pays nothing.

Since the government knows they're illegal, why don't they deport them?

I'd rather the govenment protect citizen's rights that give anything to the lawbreakers.

And giving money to illegals (rewarding them for their crimes) to send to Mexico (as most will likely do) help OUR economy?

I understand your point. Purely from an economic perspective, I just think that an illegal immigrant who has been working and paying taxes is more deserving of a rebate than a citizen sitting on his/her ever-widening rear end collecting welfare.

Maybe not much, there’s a fair chance that they’ll just send a good piece of the money, if not all of it, back to Mexico. I’m only talking about who is deserving, and I maintain that a taxpaying illegal is more deserving than a sponging citizen.

No one should get a 'rebate'. The president and Congress need to buck up to their perfidy, and do something that will actually help the domestic economy, instead of China or the international banks whose greed and influence got us into the situation.

If fewer taxes are good, then they should cut taxes. None of this phony rebate stuff giving away money that isn't theirs to give.

Borders have to mean something. Sponging citizens need to be dealt with, and illegals need to be deported. If they lose the money they have paid in taxes, consider it a fine for their lawbreaking.

Not exactly. In the definitions of the bill, it states clearly:

(2) ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL- The term `eligible individual' means any individual other than-- `(A) any nonresident alien individual,..
