Sorry, don’t see McCain in 2008 being a Dole circa 96.

Dole ran a horrible campaign against a sitting President who the press carried complete water for.

This is 2008, the networks and newspapers aren’t exactly fans of Clinton this year, and they don’t have the clout and pull they did 12 years ago. On the flip side, of that equation, Talk Radio is not the sole voice on the Right any more either.

Thirdly, no 3rd party Perot showing up to allow a plurality election.

I will NOT vote for McCain - period. Not in the primary and not in the general. I am sitting this one out if my choice is either him or Obama or Hillary. The media and the libs got the Republican they wanted, McCain can see them chew him up and spit him out once they are done using him. I won’t lift a voting finger to help him. He’s a selfish, petty, dishonest, unstable ass.

Except Bloomberg's there waiting in the wings.

“One major difference between Bob Dole and John McCain. I voted for Dole. I will not vote for McCain.”

I not inclined to get McCain my vote, either. And yes, I’m talking about the fall.

BUCK UP YOU SORELOSERS! MCCAIN IS GONNA WIPE THE FLOOR WITH THE BEAST! OR THE MUSLIM!

Maybe or maybe not. Regardless, whatever his fate, it will be without my vote. If it's Shrillary vs. McinsAne, I'll be writing in my vote for Ralph Wiggum.

OK, yes, voting for McCain is like kissing your sister... BUTTTT, he is there on somethings we care about. He is pro-life, pro military, pro surge and is a budget hawk, ok, fine, he likes the amnesty thing. OK, a crappy view I disagree with, but c’mon, maybe Reagan will be there in 2012, 2016...stop being a bunch of wimps and support this guy (my gut says he will be the nominee, but I have been wrong before) It is a sad choice, but if we lose enthusiasm, we done and we will spend 4 or 8 years with Hillary or Barrack. I hate his campaign finance views, but yet I do not like Bush’s amnesty or his fed tampering with education. Lets go and support a guy who spent five years in a prison camp. Not to bad for a GOP nominee. Suck it up and move forward. I did, and I really wanted Hunter or Keyes, but dammit, reality is reality, I have to hold my nose and vote for John McCain.

Would you stay home, knowing it might mean President Hillary? I wouldn’t. I think most will feel the same way. Plus, much of the black vote is being alienated by the current Clinton campaign. That will come home to roost, I think.

It has been some time since the 1996 Elections where a Bill Clinton won re-election over Robert Dole. While Dole was a leader in the Senate and in many ways a decent guy he would never have been the first choice of people on the right. However, it seemed that it was "his turn" and that he was somehow owed this opportunity.

It's not McCain's "turn". McCain is a jerk. The only thing McCain and Dole have in common was that they were in office way too long and got too chummy with the "other side".

There is nearly a billion dollars behind her in soft, hard, and illegal money. She’ll be the nominee, even if it means a bunch of...ahem....’southern racists’ just so happen to break into Obama’s house in the middle of the night and lynch him. I’m only barely kidding.

OK, yes, voting for McCain is like kissing your sister

So...What you're saying is that you've been kissing counterpunch's sister... and it's like voting for McCain?

*ducks, runs*

“But anyone here that sits it out in November and forfeits to Hillary or Obama needs a new set of brains.”

Name an issue where McCain is indisputably better than Hill or THE O.

(Hint: don’t say the War.
McCain has been attacking Rummy fron day one, says Waterboarding is torture, wants to close Gitmo and wants the US to join the ICC...)

Then explain why the pro-abortion vote goes to McCain and the pro-life vote goes to Romney?

I thought you would know what I meant, but apparently not. No one likes to kiss their sister, but in politics, sometimes you have to to get shit done. If you do not know that, sorry about the your education.

“If he does get the nomination it would be interesting to see how many conservatives will cast ballots for him or stay home.”

I’m a party guy—and I’m having problems with McCain.

Electing Hill and/or the O are an opportunity to press F5 on the GOP.

It’s 1976.

Thank you!!! I would ask the same thing. This guy has been telling us evil Freepers that we’re “extreme” and “sore losers.” I say, pound sand Bucko...you obviously took a wrong turn onto this site.

I’m afraid the result would have been the same with any of the five currently running.

Lackluster lot all of them!

They simply do not know his record. Be sure that I am NOT a McCain supporter, what my position is that we need to get moving on this or everyone will stay home and then we get the libtards elected again. There should be no fighting in our tent on this. McCain is pro-life, as I am pro-life. Why start this debate? If your candidate has a really good chance of winning, then move forward, I am just being a realist. DO NOT pigeon hole hole me on this, I think in the end we want the same thing.

“It’s clearly time to clean out the attic.”

Wrong metaphor.

It’s time for an enema.
