Romney apparently made some big mistakes in the time he spent in the state and in the time leading up to it. What were those mistakes?? It certainly wasn’t money.
Here are the facts.

McCain beat Romney:

-In endorsements. WHERE WERE ROMNEY’S ENDORSEMENTS?? BIG MISTAKE #1.

-In the Cuban vote, which was to be expected. Why? Because McCain is as pro-amnesty as they come and there are hundreds of thousands of illegal alien Cubans in Florida, AND because many of the LEGAL ones want to be able to bring in their loved ones from the Island.

-In the elderly grouping. That’s because McCain is, as are most elderly in Florida, liberal. Romney is not.

-In military/veterans votes. This was a forgone conclusion.

As I see it, the only way that Romney can beat McCain is by getting some whopper endorsements and going after McCain in NY and CA. Romney can ill-afford to lose those two states. Romney also needs to go after Illinois and PA, two important second tier states, delegate-wise. It is rumoured that McCain will win NJ and CT and DE. So, what is Romney to do? Should he forget the South? It would appear that the South is not going to go his way.

One thing IS clear: The Republican Establishment is NOT getting behind Romney and is instead backing McCain. Can Romney win as a populist conservative as Edwards is trying to do with the Dems? I don’t think so. Romney needs some heavy hitters, and FAST!

A very sad night for the Romney camp and for conservatives across the country...

You are correct, however, those are two absolutely separate groups.

EVERYONE! Get some perspective. mccain has 97 of 1191 delegate. NOT EVEN 10%!

Giving up at this time is premature. This could also be the thing to galvanize Conservative voters. It is not totally lost at time.

It just means it is time to vote, work for, and donate to Romney. Fred was who I wanted but Fred and Romney would make a good pair.

Romney would get the northeast, CA, Oregon, and Washington., Fred would bring the midwest and south.

But do NOT give up now. Work now.

I’m a Romney supporter.

That disclosed, if I were to impartially (as much as I can) describe the candidacy of Romney, I’d say that his biggest mistakes were —

1. Spending too much in South Carolina
2. Waiting until Michigan to emphasize his business credentials

That said, I think he played a very good game against a very stacked field. When we started this, there was Romney, Paul, McCain, Giulaini, Huckabee, Thompson, Hunter, Tancredo, and Brownback. All of the rest except Tancredo are allies of McCain.

I’m proud of Romney. I’m proud of who he is and the campaign he has run. I think it’s courageous and honorable that he stood up to that time of scrutiny, and that he has invested some of his own fortune into his effort to serve the people of our country. And on Feb 5th, win lose or draw he has my vote. And should it happen that he comes up short, I hope that he will live a happy life and that in a few years time, should the opportunity arise and he is willing to give it another shot, I will be there supporting him again. He has truly inspired me.

My guy is huck, that being said I could have gotten behind Thompson, Hunter and Tancredo. And I could hold my nose for McCain (depending on the VP) With that disclaimer out of the way I want to take issues with your post:

“Because McCain is as pro-amnesty as they come and there are hundreds of thousands of illegal alien Cubans in Florida, AND because many of the LEGAL ones want to be able to bring in their loved ones from the Island.”

You are *completely clueless* a cuban *cant* be illegal, the minute they set foot on American soil they are granted legal immigration status. Cubans tend to one of the more reliable group of republican voters in fla so dont crap on them because they dont buy mitts 11th hour conversion to social conservatism.

“In the elderly grouping. That’s because McCain is, as are most elderly in Florida, liberal.” ... “the only way that Romney can beat McCain is by getting some whopper endorsements and going after McCain in NY and CA”

LOL so youll call fla seniors ‘liberals’ but hitch your mans hopes on two of the most liberal states in the union which *will not go to the GOP in November*?

No, there aren't.

Since the 90's the policy has been Cubans who reach U.S. soil are granted refuge under the "wet feet, dry feet policy". If their feet touch dry ground, they're granted asylum ... so, unless these hundreds of thousands are living in the surf off of Miami, they don't exist
