The Spanish speaking people who were here for a time came from Spain not Mexico. Correct -- I am descended from a few of them - all from Spain - to and including the royals and the catalonian volunteers who helped found the missions. :)

There is a great book out there, circa 20 something years ago.. called “America’s Secret Aristocracy” by Steven Birmingham. I think you would find it fascinating.
