Did not see it posted yet, here we go folks!
He did, and you are being a fool. In screaming for perfection, you opposed a man who is as good on guns as McCain, and as good as Bush, and would have largely done wonders for the gun rights movement. HE was actually better than Bush because he supported overturning DC’s gun ban.
If the gun people had spoken the truth about Romney, instead of lying about him, McCain couldn’t have painted Romney as anti-gun when he is not.
Just another special-interest group whose members had no concept of what it takes to win a nomination.
Every special-interest group wanted 100% of their issue. There’s like 10% of the people in the country who are close to being 100% on a large set of issues — that’s a pretty small base.
But short of Romney promising a machine gun in every garage, the pro-gun people were going to call him a gun-grabber.
I agree completely. I was peeved at my husband for that vote but I understand. He wasn’t happy when I told him about some of McCain’s political history.
My husband does NOT want Hillary’s name on his retirement papers.
I don’t know who NP was supporting, but he did as much as anybody to get McCain the nomination, so I don’t know why he is saying we are doomed with McCain.
Guess we’ll chat then. It’s not looking good but it never was considering our choices. I’m disappointed in this election/my choices.
If he had appointed all Republican none would have been confirmed. None of the great things he did would have occurred. In MA you must work with Democrats and appoint some judges in their party. You just find their DINO’s and appoint them. Or trade a judge for something else worth having. That is Politics.
By all honest measures he was a great Governor.
By the way some of Regan’s judges were the worst ever. No indication in this article that even one of the judges was weak on crime or civil cases. Jury’s have and should have democrat on them and do a great job for the most part except in D.C. and when celebrities are involved.
LOL. Don’t be naive.
Careful...Jim’s paying for the microphone
“How can exit polls include absentees?”
Those who vote early are contacted and asked the same questions as those leaving the polling place. The data is kept secret until the polls are closed.
I’m sure that it’s a collaborative effort...
Again you are declaring extremes on the gun issue . Romney simply had to come out in total opposition to any so-called AWB-2 from the start . He didn’t , and it has cost him dearly .
I’ll have you know I did everything I could to deny McPain a win in Florida . Take that you how you will, but I turned out the vote against McPain in Florida more than you’ll ever know ....
Please thank your husband for his service. If he voted for McCain, then maybe McCain isn’t as bad as I think he is. I don’t like him, don’t trust him on the military but if the military is voting for him...it gives me pause. I vote next week. My Dad was a WWII vet and most of my family are vets and they don’t like McCain or trust him. Doesn’t mean they’re right. My Dad was a conservative, 100%, and a vet. He even complained about whining vets, saying the government owed them nothing, not even for their service because that was an honor to serve one’s country according to him.
You got me thinking now, lol. If your husband voted for him, then maybe he’s not so bad. I don’t like him and I don’t trust him but I don’t like any left and I don’t trust any of them at this point.
I don’t think he’ll win in the general regardless.
Sometimes I am amazed at what JR writes. I’ve seen Romney admit he was wrong, but I don’t remember seeing Ronald Reagan prostrate before us begging forgiveness for his mistake in California, OR for appointing judges that solidified Roe V. Wade, which as much as anything could be blamed for the millions of deaths (I don’t blame him, but the reasoning used by JR would).
Once Roe was the law, NOTHING Romney did contributed to abortion in any serious way. He may have even prevented an abortion or two in his private life with his church, and his giving to his church helped fund many people who couseled people to not perform abortions.
But so long as we are going to be stuck in the mindset where we try to hold every individual who ever supported a woman’s right to choose personally responsible and culpable for the deaths of all the aborted babies, we will relegate the pro-life movement into oblivion.
Would I love to hear a Romney take such a step — actually, yes. I would love it if every person who was ever pro-choice would, when becoming pro-life, acknowledge that their previous belief condoned the murder of the innocent.
But the idea that we are going to require a public flogging of people who are not right on an issue simply to assuage our own anger over the murder of the innocent is a non-starter.
If we get a solid, life-time pro-lifer elected, it will be by LUCK, because we happen to find an otherwise appealing candidate who also happens to have been right about abortion. Fealty to the pro-life movement alone isn’t going to win anything.
Fred Thompson was the darling of FR, and so far as I can tell, before his run for PResident he never really spoke out in any way to stop the slaughter of abortion. Yes, he did vote appropriately on the margins, and maybe saved a few hundred lives here and there. But even TODAY, Thompson SUPPORTS ABORTION for rape and incest.
I would expect a good pro-lifer with the views expressed in that post by JR to call for Fred Thompson to prostrate himself for supporting the death of babies who did nothing wrong but are being punished for the sins of their parents. Or to confess his sin for supporting first-and-second trimester abortions in 1994, or for not speaking out in Hollywood for the pro-life position when he had the stage and the public’s attention to do so.
We could spend our time extracting our pound of flesh while the next 1.2 million babies die, or we can let GOD be the judge and try to elect the man who offers the best promise to end abortion — which between McCain and Romney I think is Romney, because he is much more vocal now and willing to adopt the pro-life stance while McCain, who has been better on the issue, seems to not like to discuss it.
Never happen...Soon as the Supreme Court ruling comes down that the homeowner in DC- the armed guard who is the plaintiff- has the right to keep a firearm in his home, that will quash any efforts to grab the guns..They may try other things but putting a total ban on gun ownership just is not going to phappen...The 2nd Amendment is short and very straightforward about that...
A-Hole Floridians. Someone has to say it.
“Thompson SUPPORTS ABORTION for rape and incest.”
As do most thinking people that consider themselves pro-life.
I know you didn’t want McCain, but we’ve been telling you all that a vote against Romney was a vote for McCain. THompson failed to stop McCain in Iowa (his bare 3rd-place finish wasn’t enough). Thompson abandoned New Hampshire — if he had worked hard there, he could easily have taken 5% from McCain.
Giuliani never was going to beat McCain once Rudy lost favor as the darling media personality.
Romney as flawed as people said he was was the only candidate who could stop McCain.
BTW, Huckabee might have been able to, and would have been better on gun rights and many other things, except that he made some deal with the devil and turned into a McCain puppet.
BTW, I would actually feel better voting for a Huckabee/McCain ticket, than a McCain/Huckabee ticket. I don’t want to groom Huckabee for a run in 4 years, but as President he’d be better than McCain except on gravitas and McCain would have that as the VP.
But now there’s no chance of that either. IF Romney had won, and you hated Romney, you’d have the change to get Huckabee enough votes for a brokered convention where Huckabee could try to woo McCain to the VP slot. Oh, never mind, McCain wasn’t taking the VP slot.
Romney was the only shot at stopping Giuliani and McCain. I hoped Fred would do it, but he proved not up to the task. And since Romney was rejected by conservatives until it was too late, we got what I could have predicted last year — McCain.
There’s still hope, but it’s going to take a lot more than a few conservatives now. And unfortunately, it’s a long shot and in the meantime we might destroy McCain so that even if he wins the nomination he will never win the election (some would like that, I’d rather not have Obama as President).
So other than a few freepers who actually like McCain, and Tennesse Nana who thinks that this is great opportunity for an affirmative action VP slot appointment, we are pretty much all going to have to work hard for something, but I don’t know what yet.
There aren’t many real Americans anymore—and tonight is proof.

Hard to imagine how Fred Thompson would have done much better in that regard, if Obama was the nominee, although he would at least have been a conservative.
The candidates we had who could go against Obama were Giuliani because he would make Obama look like a little kid, and Romney because he would make Obama look like an ignorant newcomer.
Huckabee might have appealed to the same youth vote.
But Huckabee wasn’t going to win the nomination, and with Fred not winning, Romney was really the only shot we had at a candidate who could have a chance with both Obama AND Hillary.
