Brightest spot tonight? The EPIC FAIL of the openly-pro-abortion putz from NYC

Impossible - we were told months ago that Rudy would cruise through the primary, and the only choice was to get on board or risk fracturing the party.

No independents had a vote in the primary.
The pre registration is 30 days by law.

They are permitted to vote on the property tax amendment . That is all.
Routine.
Even if they blocked out a vote the diebold would kick it out. Trust me on this.

It seems McCain’s last minute attacks on Mitt and Mitt’s poor response to them was the death blow. Mitt also seemed to be at the debates the guy no one else likes. McCain must make some overture to Conservatives (like picking a bona-fide Conservative VP) or face certain doom in November.

"they don’t agree with the nominee 100% of the time."

The problem is not that I disagree with McCain on 10%. It's that I disagree with him 100%. Even when he says something I agree with, I can check his voting record and see that he's lying when he says it. There's no need for anyone to run down to the recruiting office. Cut and run in Afghanistan and Iraq, and we will all get to fight on the streets of America because once again it'll be clear to every nation on Earth that the US is a quitter and an unreliable ally. Just watch how much trouble breaks out around the world then. Poor Khadafy will be kicking himself over giving up his nukes and other WMD's when all he had to do was wait for the American people to go back to sleep.

Romney can buy the primaries! How can beat Hillary in Nov.

The establishment actually just 'bought' this win for McCain. Romney was surging ahead last week and did well in the debate. Then on Saturday, the state party came out in force. I was inundated with emails, phone calls, etc, etc for the past two days. As one who pays attention, it didn't phase me, but many voters were probably influenced by popular statewide figures. Romney became the challenger to the powerful state party establishment.

If it is Obama versus McCain, it will be Clinton versus Dole all over again.

I'm thinking more like Kennedy vs. Nixon. The new young Turk challenging the "old guard" old fashioned way of looking at things. Mitt might have a chance against Obama, but any Republican would have a chance against Hillary. Still, we must ask ourselves if mere victory of a lesser evil over a greater evil is worth the cost of our Party's 'soul' in the process.

I have never advocated staying home. I have readily accepted ‘the lesser evil’ because of the horror of the socialist dimocrats—and hillary/obama may be the worst of the lot.

But if McCain gets the nom, he takes things to a new level for the GOP. In fact, he hates the GOP and he hates conservatives. He can’t win in any event.

We can only hope for a Carter effect and hope for a Reagan to emerge in 4 years. Long shot. But it is hope.

Money is pouring in for him. Once he was back in play, people were happy to give him money. He’s “reasonable”.

Look, most of the republicans don’t really care about what we care about. They aren’t micro-analyzing the candidates.

Either we get back behind Romney because he’s got the conservative platform, or we decide to support the liberal McCain because too many conservatives hate mormons, or hate people from the northeast, or simply hate the idea that they might get fooled and Romney would be a liberal like McCain is.

But whatever we are going to do, we better figure it out. Thompson was a bust, Hunter didn’t go long enough to be a bust. Hunter suggested Huckabee, but Huckabee doesn’t seem acceptable to “conservatives”, and frankly shouldn’t be considered for the presidency.

The Republican Party cannot be "moderate". If it is it will be a perpetual minority.

The moderates need to start their own 3rd party. They can call themselves "The Moderate Party." I'm sure a lot of Unitarians would join up.

Keep your spirits up. We have been living in a time where there were two parties, although, most of us realize now it’s a facade. The two parties are in fact one.

Spirits up? This could finally be a time for a true third party to emerge as a power....a representative to what I still believe is a majority of citizens in this country...Conservative, traditional values.

We’re not finished yet.
