My personal observations are that Athiests "wish" that there is no God because the consequences of Hell are worse than "nothingness". The thought of being judged for their actions is something they cannot accept.

what do you say to the atheist who asks, "You don't (chuckle) actually believe in God, do you (snicker)?" You just smile and say, "of course". No big deal.

Actually, organized Atheism worshipers are trying to have their brand of belief installed as the official State Religion of the US.

These are “antitheists”, not atheists...(someone else should get the credit for this term in another thread btw)
They’re angry with God.
Otherwise with a true atheist it wouldn’t even cross their minds to try to convince someone that nothing exists.

It is better to believe in God and be wrong than not believe in God and be wrong.

To me, most atheists are like people who don't own televisions. They are always constantly reminding everyone else that they don't own a television. They seem to be craving some sort of attention or validation because they think they are somehow better than people who don't own televisions.
Of course, they get disappointed or whiny when no one else gives a rat's rear end about it.

I just ask them to state what they believe without using the word “God”. You’ve never heard so many different idiotic responses in your life.

Using logic, atheism is an untenable position. To state categorically that there is no god, one has to have all of the knowledge in this world......obviously none of us have. At best one can only be an agnostic.

Wow. reminds me of Peter Kreeft's arguments for the existence of God. And his arguments against abortion, for that matter.
Exceptionally well-reasoned.

The other half of this argument is that they don’t believe they deserve to be judged right or wrong on anything because since there is no God, there is no divine moral rights or wrongs, so there is only personal preferences, and they also believe they are intellectually superior to the 95% of people on the earth that believe in a Creator God.

Most aggressive atheists say "I would be willing to believe in God if there were any evidence that He exists, but no such evidence exists, so I don't believe."...that is, for him no evidence has been discovered to date - he should know, being so sophisticated, that in science it's impossible to prove conclusively a negative, because there's always the chance that some sort of evidence will be brought forth in the future.....

Someone once told me although he wasn’t necessarily talking about belief in life after death or religion. He said, “If you truly believe something bad is going to happen, with every inch of your being, you should do everything you can to warn those people who you love before it’s too late, EVEN IF they think your nuts.”

The atheist said to me “ I don’t believe in God and you waste your time in praying.”
I replied “ If you are right and there is no God, I have wasted a few minutes a day of my life. But if I am right..
I would not want to be YOU.

Ignore them, these kinds of people are dying for the validation that comes from confrontation.
Militant Atheists are worthy of little more than contempt at the best of times.

I did have someone say something like that to me once. I just smiled and said “well, when we die, we’ll know, huh?” Then I changed the subject. I am not going to argue about it. If someone asks me about my faith I share, otherwise I try to follow St Francis’ advice.
