LOL - I remember when I was a child in Tennessee, asking my mom who that man on TV was and why he sounded so funny. She said he was the President, and he was from up North, and they all talked that way.

It was JFK.

We had to live is Missouri near St. Louis for a year; went to a meeting and a woman stood up and said I talked funny. I said, “No, I am fine, it is you who talks funny.” After that year, we were back in Texas, God’s country where real people know how to talk. Y’awl got that?

That's pretty funny.

I'm from "up north" and no one I knew talked like JFK. I lived around Boston for a while and his style of speech was definitely not typical of the variety of more working-class Boston accents. Maybe the "Boston Brahmins" used to speak like he did.
