For 50 days, Giuliani had the Sunshine State nearly to himself........hes sucked up to Miami's Cuban vote, pandered in Cape Canaveral about the space program, tried to scare retirees in South Florida. There he is riding in a fire truck in a Miami parade, trailed by angry firefighters who blame him for multiple failures when NY was attacked.......in the Panhandle, he's the consummate Yankees fan trying to look down-home on the Redneck Riviera.
Yet, the more they see of Giuliani, the more his poll numbers tank...... Rudys campaign is in meltdown. Amazing how much voters bring up his tawdry personal life. They laugh about Rudy in drag and Rudy when he lived with a gay couple.....in a state full of mothers who live for phone calls from long-distance adult children, theres one thing they cant abide Rudys wreck of a family life......people roll their eyes over the story of how Giulianis third wife picked him up in a cigar bar while he was still married to the second Mrs. Hizzoner.
I heard no end of condemnation over the mayors estrangement from his two children. He spent more than anyone but Mitt Romney in NH, and finished a distant fourth. And as Michael Powell and Russ Buettner documented in a remarkable piece in the Times earlier this week, Giuliani ruled by crushing anyone who dared to cross him.

If only he had campaigned in his pink spangled number—things mighta been different (titter).
I heard Mark Steyn put it very well the other day. To paraphrase, “Rudy told us he was the only candidate who could unite the party and win against Hillary at the national level. Then he said he wasn’t going to run in Iowa because it was a distraction, then he said he wasn’t going to campaign in New Hampshire because he wanted to focus on Florida, then he said he wasn’t going to campaign in South Carolina because it was full of the religious right, then he said he wouldn’t campaign in Nevada because it was full of Mormons. So how is he the guy who can unite the party?”

The Long Run; In Matters Big and Small, Crossing Giuliani Had Price

ATTENTION RootyTooters: I hate to say I tolja' so...
Rooty tooty fresh and frooty - ran for President and they kicked his booty.
GOODBYE,TIMES (SLIMES): NEWSPAPER COULD NOT EVEN BE EFFECTIVE FISHWRAP.
Exactly. I'd take him any day over Huckabee or McCain. At least Rudy is upfront with where he stands, and although I disagree with him, at least I can believe him.
Huckabee and McCain are both wolves in sheep's clothing and are both far more liberal than Rudy is!
Giuliani recently announced his top staffers are working gratis---b/c Giuliani wants voters to think he managed to spend all his campaign money without having actually competed in any of the early primary/caucus states.
The truth is that Rudy spent all his money because he HAS competed in all those states, and lost dismally. The number of times Rooty went to New Hampshire to campaign was second only to Romney.
Rudy just CLAIMS he hasn't been competing because the results show he is a bigtime loser, rejected by primary/caucus voters.
Although Giuliani talks big, and tries to cast himself as a warrior/hero, he cuts and runs when he feels competitive pressure. He chickened out of the Senate race vs. Hillary. More recently, he cut and run in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and now South Carolina.
He's the gutless wonder....a talker, not a doer. He wins Florida or loses whatever credibility he has left (not much).
Can voters honestly say Giuliani will be a peacemaker?
Giuliani seems the least likely of all the candidates to be a level-headed negotiator to calm world tensions. One can only ponder how many US allies will be alienated (and enemies inflamed) by this egomaniac's compulsion to strut on the global stage.
Rudys one-trick vote for me and Ill protect you from the terrorists is s-t-a-le.
He's built his campaign around the only skill he has---cleaning up after bombings. Robot Rooty is programmed for problems---to repeat 9/11 over and over. It's the only thing he's campaigned on.
Rooty needs chaos to thrive. Reflexively 9/11---he manages to sneak 9/11 into every sentence he utters. As the shortest candidate, and the only lisper, 9/11 gave him the opportunity to fulfill a deep psychological need----to strut around pretending he's somebody.
How does his tax cut proposal, his vow to nominate Justices like Scalia, his stance on the WOT, and his support of the DC appellate decison on guns fit in?
Yet those same "conservatives" are supporting the other gun grabbing, baby killing Northeastern RINO... Go figger.
He also chickened out in running against Hillary in 2000 and 2006.
That’s good to know, thanks; I may eventually need to retire outside of Kaliforneeeeea, you never know...
I actually feel sorry for him. Whoever helped strategize his campaign plan really messed up.
ATTENTION RootyTooters: I hate to say I tolja’ so.......
But I did tolja’ so..........LOL.
What percentage of your posts would you say include the phrases “gun grabbing” or “baby killing?”
Furthermore, has it occurred to you how incredibly misleading those phrases are as you attempt to attribute them to Romney?
FReeper calcowgirl did the research; on Sept 2007 she posted her findings:
Rudy quit the race, announcing he had cancer, but he was up and working almost immediately after quitting the Senate race. To those playin' violins about his debilitating cancer and the chemo treatment, here are excerpts from published news reports that tell the real story:
Rudy had radioactive seed implantation on September 15 and was up on his feet in one day. There was no chemo.
He missed a day or two of work and within a week he had marched in a parade, presided over a town hall-style meeting, gone on the stump for Lazio, and conducted daily press conferences, including one pushing a $1 Billion taxpayer-subsidized stadium in Manhattan's West Side after holding meetings with both the Yankees and Jets owners that week.
In May 2000 he dropped out a mere 11 days before the State Convention where he was to be nominated leaving the GOP high and dry (with no other choice but to recruit Lazio).
His doctors said they thought campaigning was perfectly within his physical capabilities; if he started treatment right way, he would have recovered and been "full speed" by the time the campaign normally kicked in. Instead, he delayed that procedure until September.
Rudy dropped out because a) he figured he was going to get his arse whooped, and, b) he had organized several global businesses and a global law firm that were earning him a million dollars per month.
