On MTP he said he would have reauthorized the AWB just as Bush said he would have. But now that it expired he would not do a NEW one, he said it on his web site and he’s said it publicly. He has not changed his position, but he is so open to acknowledging his previous positions that some people are taking those admissions and claiming they represent his current views, which they don’t.

Kind of...but i remember that Joe Lieberman said that he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Party left him...kind of indicating that at heart he is still a Dem..I think McCain sees him in that context and doesnt think of him as an Independent...

For many years FR was inundated with Bush cultists.
Most of them were sent backing back in late April 2007.
Writing a check is not the same thing, in 2004 Church folks were going door to door and really trying, there was little money involved, if Mitt has to write checks, he will not make it into the White House, people who work for a check instead of honest personal enthusiasm just do not put the time into the effort that is needed.
