He dropped those names all in a single answer to Ron Paul's question. Paul hit him with an economic question on some Federal agency or something and I don't think McCain had a clue what he was getting at so he fell back on this rambling answer about all these old time eoncominc guys he had around him to handle all that stuff. I saw him using the name dropping as a recovery attempt from a fumble.

McCain obviously didn't understand the question, and probably had never before heard mention of the Working Group on Financial Markets (otherwise known as the Plunge Protection Team). It's not one of his main interests. It does, as Rep. Paul pointed out, operate out of the public's view, in secret.

McCain may be all in favor of sunshine, but he hasn't a clue where the sunshine needs to be let in.

I was posting while Mitt Romney was quoting the Constitution. What did Paul say about the Constitution? I missed it. I know he is ‘known’ for at least trying to justify his governing philosophy upon it. But did he say anything about it during the debate?

Here ... hit abuse on this post... the debate tonight was the very definition of “abuse”. To think this is the best Republicans have to offer is the biggest abuse of them all.

Not only against Mitt. Few on this board have ever met any of the candidates and know nothing about them as a person. We've been tossing around some pretty nasty stuff about these guys and they don't deserve it. I'm guilty of this myself and feel smaller for getting caught up in it. It gets like an athletic constest and its easy to start taunting the "away" team and end up feeling foolish.

Actually, although I'd never vote for him, if I had a chance to have a cup of coffee and chew the fat with any of them it would be Huck. I like him a lot.....just not for president.

Rush also qualified his remark today that he would NOT vote for “two, maybe one” Republican candidate to a caller today. Just wanted to clear that up. Check out his website, the transcript is there for all to read (i.e., does not require 24/7 membership).

Rush has made it very clear previously that he would not vote for McCain or Huckabee, period.

People are misconstruing what he said, which he clarified today.

I am not embarrassed in the least... the Republican Party and FR should be embarrassed. I am just doing what GOD and the Founding Fathers intended that I do with their most gracious and wonderful gift.

SD, Romney's an optimist even while under verbal assault. We so need an optimist and he's intelligent. Since when is that a bad thing? Mitt's taking a lot of abuse and he's still standing.

Steele is an interesting possibility. If Obama is defeated in the primary and not put on the ticket as seems likely, giving blacks a solid reason to vote Republican might not be just a good tactical move, but a good long term strategic move.

Oh, and BTW, it's doubtful if more than 30 people in the audience understood the ramifications of Ron Paul's question, either.

But you can bet that just about everyone in the securities industry who was watching took notice.

Everybody here seems to forget that Ronald Reagan picked DAN QUAYLE to boost his “Bona-fides” with Conservatives....not to quibble over such a small point, but Reagan picked Bush Sr. - who picked Quayle to...well who knows why.....
