Thank you for that and there might be a reason for Hunter’s actions. I just can’t see him flipping.

Before we all go bananas LOL; let’s see what is behind this. I can’t see Hunter flipping. He is just not the type to do this.

Because I respect Duncan Hunter, I'm willing to look at Huckabee.

Huck may not be perfect, but Hunter is right.

Judges are one good reason.

He may have been duped, but he is as conservative as they come, dingbat.

Another thread...we can dance. This one’s too much fun for me...watching you and all the other so-called political mavens throw up on yourselves.

Freekitty was right, you have no class at all.

But most people already knew that.

This thread is entirely too long already. McCain's robovoice just jolted me off the couch. I don't want to hear that voice for FOUR YEARS. He's a democrat and that they just called me creeped me out. Huckabee=no, McCain=no, Romney-yes, Paul=no, Guiliani-mistake to only campaign in Florida.

My head's not gonna explode but I do have the hiccups.

DH picking Huckabee is twilight zone time.

The five US Circuit Court judges Mitt Romney appointed as Massachusetts Governor were very conservative, a fact which has been verified and published by NRO and other respected publications.

Not sure about the local judges he appointed, although they don’t matter nearly as much because local judges don’t deal with Constitutional issues, only litigation and criminal law, etc.

Amazing to me that you are gonna support Huckabee over a belief the GOP leaders are jamming “socially moderate” candidates down your throat.

Well, you are jamming the MOST socially moderate candidate — Huckabee — down your OWN throat if you continue to support him.

The problem with voting for Hillary or B. Hussein Obama is impending Supreme Court vacancies. Choices we will have to live with for a generation, with no recall or “next election” to remedy the matter.

This is arguably the single most important aspect of the 2008 presidental election. But unless we win both the White House and the Senate, the chance of getting another Roberts/Alito/Thomas/Scalia is slim to none. If the Huckster wins, then he is more likely to nominate justices in the mold of Stevens and Souter, who were appointed by Republicans, and there is not a lot of difference between those two and Ginsburg and Beyer, who were apppointed by RATs, except, perhaps that Ginsburg might be a bit more conservative in some respects. And so if Huck is elected, then we get a Souter and if Clinton/Obama is elected we get a Ginsburg/Beyer. Either way, we are not getting a conservative, and we may never get another conservative justice, no matter who is elected POTUS, if we don't win back the Senate.

Hope you’re enjoying your soda.

It’s been fun reading. Kind of like the old days on FR when we all felt national politics were a zoo, and we had fun being alternatively sarcastic and fey about it.

Since then people have invested so much of their souls for certain candidates and against others that they became vitriolic against other FReepers that didn’t agree with their candidate choice instead of just against the politician they didn’t like.

I think we had too much success with President Bush and then got really picky and critical over the things we didn’t get from him. And then the fission at FR began in earnest.

A fair number of our former contributors are now at another website, when the candidates that all the fighting was about are now history or soon to be history. As a result we are scraping to raise the money to keep this place going.

I say, ultimately, even when a guy you really like is in office, that politics is a circus.

Time to bring in the clowns!!

At least Fred didn’t endorse anyone. But endorsing the Huckster is the worst of them all!

I agree. It looks like an anti-establishment endorsement.

This is why it is foolish to emotionally invest yourself in any politician; there is no breed of person on earth more likely to screw you over and break your heart. While I'm passionate about the issues, I view all politicians—even the ones I support—with a cold, detached and jaded eye.

'Class'? You want to compare my posts about the candidates compared to yours??

You want to compare our rhetoric about illegal immigration? Go ahead....show me YOUR class.

Furthermore, I've already covered that with freekitty and I believe we understand each other.

Now, run along and play.

Can’t help you on the quote but lots of lifelong pubbies are turning indy. Huckaee or McCain as the nominee mean people will sit the election out. They’re unacceptable.
