Fred Thompson quits; MAY POSITION HIMSELF FOR VP BID

Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson dropped out of the race Tuesday and, according to a top adviser, can now position himself as a vice presidential candidate.

That rumor is a made up one soley based on Thompson's friendship with McCain. When Fred DID endorse McCain back in the day, John was a different politician. He is no where close to the man Thompson endorsed.

Bank on it. Thompson will not endorse McCain.

He will not accept a VP slot with McCain or endorse him. the 2000 version of John McCain is way different than the 2008 version. McCain and Thompson, while still friends, are 180 degrees apart in ideology now.

Again, McCain in 2000 is a lot different than the 08 version. He and Fred are now 180 degrees different ideologically. They may be friends, but Fred will not endorse him.

Fred voted against impeaching Clinton for perjury. Ann couldn’t forgive him for that.

Yea, I read the article ('Fred Sawyer and Huckabee Finn'). It was beneath Ann. Fred did vote to impeach Clinton (and it was the House that actually votes, not the Senate) on the article of obstruction and just did not think the perjury charge warranted impeachment according to the Founders intent. He provided a very detailed reasoning for his vote on this, which Ann was well aware of. However, we only needed ONE count to impeach, which Ann KNEW too, and Fred did vote for the obstruction count.

Besides, it was all for moot because Congress never got close to the 2/3 vote necessary to impeach. This was just one of the few lame reasons that were out there for why not to vote for Fred. It's the country's loss and Ann (you are great, but IMO you blew this one) should feel some responsibility for that.

And that's why I wanted him to be President. He wants to set this country straight, and unfortunately he needs to be President to do that, so he went for the job. The rest, especially Romney and Hillary, want the power and prestige of the presidency. That makes them automatically suspect.
