Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

I didn’t particularly like Thompson and I didn’t really think he had a chance, simply because I didn’t think he came across very well to most people. But one of the problems that any candidate is going to have with this new 2-year primary is that it’s just going to be almost financially impossible to make it to the end (or even close). Basically, the richest candidate is going to win.

I hope you reconsider. If my candidate lost, I’d still hold my nose and support the Republican nominee, on the sole issue of terrorism. A Clinton or Obama Presidecy would slash the military, minimize any threat, and put this country in grave danger.

Go to Romney’s site and see what he believes. Then make an informed decision as to whether he is the best man left.

Well, I tend to think that Romney (if nominated) will pick Jim DeMint as his VP running mate. I really don’t think Romney would even consider Huckabee—especially after the dirty tactics Huckabee’s campaign has used against him.

You are probably right, but sure I am not the only one who is sorely disappointed. Besides, he already has my vote as I hurried to mail my absentee ballot. There was local pressure to get them in, because whenever they count those ballots, they wanted them NOW. This was for 2/5/08 in CA.
Other local issues involved.

That brilliant financial mind really didn’t deliver on his many promises to bring new jobs and employers to MA, but that hasn’t stopped him from making similar promises to MI and beyond.

We will never abandon our Iraqi allies to the terrorists so just get use to it.

All that crap Ron Paul spews about how our founding fathers not wanting to fight our battles in the enemy’s neighborhood is historically and histerically inaccurate as the first war we fought as an independent nation was against arab terrorists (1790-1825) and Jefferson built our Navy for just that purpose.

And Sc has the highest percentage of retired military personnel in the US, Hunter should have done better then 1,000 votes.

I liked Hunter, I would like to see him travel the Conservative Circuit (AEI, Church Conferences, NRA Conventions etc) because a big part of the problem IMO, is that Conservatives didn’t know Fred or Duncan.

Heck even Newt has a email newsletter list, he’s had it for over a year, he is keeping his name “out there”, those two need to do the same thing.

Romney’s way too smart to pick Huckabee.

You make good points about the electoral map. We can’t rely on the Bush formula in 2008.

To me the difference is that Romney will at least pander to conservatives even if he isn’t sincere about being a conservative.

McCain won’t even listen to us.

So of the 2 I prefer the candidate that will at least listen to conservatives.

"Then you are incapable of drawing distinctions in the real world."

thus proving my point that McCain/Romney supporters are indistinguishable from Hillary supporters. Two sides of the same coin.

“People want the war to wind down which is why Democrat primary voters are beating GOP voters more than 2-to-1”

DO NOT buy into that media-driven crap...

The reason the Dems are getting more to show up is that they have THE ROCK STARS, and the media just loves them.

We are not electing ROCK STARS on our side. We are trying to decide who the next PRESIDENT will be.

The only good thing about this thread is the knowledge that your candidate is a sure loser.

"...and probably would have stayed in if it wasn't for his mother's illness."

I tend to agree with you.
I believe his mother's illness played a bigger role in his decision than has been reported.

She's 90 years old, and has pneumonia...the old person's friend.
She may be in her last days...God bless them all.
