Breaking news on FOX: Fred Thompson quits
Fox News ^

Posted on 01/22/2008 11:17:25 AM PST by tpanther

Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

"...Campaigns are like a business, if you don’t get votes, it’s not because the customers suck, it’s either because your product wasn’t that great, or you didn’t do a good job selling your product. This blame the consumer stuff is lame..."

You forgot the part about how that is impacted when you have a corrupt and biased media (that includes FOX) who refuses to acknowledge your candidacy. What then when they do everything in their power to skew an election by misrepresenting our convictions and before many Americans even have a chance to cast a single primary vote.

His camp has already said no endorsements.

I certainly hopes he stands strong on that. Good to hear, thanks.

I agree with you. I was disappointed when Fred got in the race—both him and Tancredo. Without those two sucking up the oxygen, Hunter may have had a shot.

We’ll never know now. The media has successfully annointed the GOP candidate.”

That’s all we really need to know, isn’t it? Now, when will the rest of the blockhead electorate figure it out?

Well that blows, first I lost a viable option with Tancredo, then Hunter, and now Thompson. Checking down the list, that leaves Romney. I've speculated before that in the GE it's going to be Romney v. Edwards. We'll see if he can win it.

Hopefully we won't have too many people throwing out the baby with the bathwater and going third party or staying out. I don't want a repeat of 2006!

Fred found out that pomposity doesn’t work too well.

John McCain is a traitor to conservatives and Republicans, not just on immigration but on many other issues. I am sorry if that is harsh but it is true. He has backstabbed other Republicans and conservatives. His honorable service to this country many years ago has been a great prop for his many political campaigns but lately it has been in the service of an agenda that is wrong for America. Every year, McCain gets worse and worse.

I have no intention of voting for G W Bush again. still Bush is more conservative than the RINO McCain on GWOT, on life issues, on judges, on environment, and on taxes. They are both equally horrible on immigration. Just as it is an easy choice for conservatives to pick Romney over McCain, it is an easy choice for conservatives to pick Bush over McCain.

I agree, and although I don’t care too much for McCain, until 2012 this race has become what candidate will do the least amount of damage to our country.

ALL things considered, that might be debatable, but at least he wouldn’t irresponsibly destroy our military and leave an ugly vacuum to be filled by al-qaeda, Iran, Russia, etc. by leaving Iraq on the verge of victory either!

If Shrillary wins the hypocrat nomination, you have to ask yourself, 4 or even 8 more years of the Klintoon’s means less to you than not voting for a RINO?

“Then say hello to President Hillary.

Did 1992, and 2006 teach you NOTHING???”

Apparently, they taught the Republican Party nothing.

I can’t help it you wanted his candidacy more than he did. I can’t take seriously anyone that doesn’t show up for debates and seemed to think once he threw his hat in it would be a coronation instead of a competition.

If we want to WIN, we have to work WITHIN the Party Processes, and COMPROMISE with those we call RINO’s to advance any kind of a conservative agenda.

And this compromising approach is PRECISELY what has left the GOP voters with only choices of voting for the lesser of two evils. As a result, either way nanny-staters, tax hiking, government program driven liberals win. It's just a difference in degrees.

Is Romney any better? We know he’s a flip-flopper at best and a liar at worst. It doesn’t look too good to me right now.

FINALLY!
Someone who’s looking at THE BIG PICTURE...

Romney has the capability, the connections, the telegenic personality, and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, THE MONEY to take on the huge Clinton Shadow Party Machine we are about to face.

I thought FRED could bring everybody together under one banner, but Huckabee saw to it that this wouldn’t happen for him. Evangelicals are a huge voting bloc in this party, and MUST be brought on board to have any hope of winning a general for us.

That they went for Huck over Fred says a lot.

So you would have me feed my fellows to the crocodile to save myself a bit of pain? Not hardly as my favorite cowboy would say, not hardly.

“It may not be over for him if there is a brokered convention.”

It is effectively a 2-man race - Romney v McCain - and 90% of the delegates are yet to be picked. Very slim chance to no chance that anyone else, eg Rudy or Huck, can break out now. Slim chance of a brokered convention.
