Not really. Ryan Grant had 201 yards last week--29 yards tonight. The Packers are not built to win like that. Don't bash Favre, credit the Giants D-line. The signature defensive play of the game was the touchdown-saving 4-on-1 stop of the screen pass by Antonio Pierce. the Giants "D" was unbeatable.

Agreed, as a Dallas fan I had to defend Romo also last week! Can't blame every missed pass on the QB when you are under constant heat and the run game is stopped. Favre wasn't as great as he needed to be but as a Giants-hater I have to grit my teeth and give them all the credit in the world. They went out and TOOK what they wanted, on the road against two 13-win teams. As for my Packers fan FRiends, I feel your pain. The Dallas loss still hurts me deep inside!

Wow, Brett Favre blew the big game with an interception. Next thing you know, you'll be telling me the sky is blue and the sun will come up tomorrow.

Maybe Green Bay will finally force him to retire so they can get a real quarterback, instead of one who's major contribution is blowing big games and racking up an untouchable record of most career interceptions.

Nothing personal against Brett, he's just not a very good quarterback.

It's called peaking at the right time. Wouldn't have thunk it when Shockey went out for the year and Eli and the team was struggling through part of Nov/Dec. But they always had a good defensive line and skill players. They became a TEAM and stepped up in all areas of the game including special teams. The biggest thing is how few turnovers they have committed in the playoffs - they basically played good smart football and waited for the opponent to beat themsleves.

Goose hunting in December near Horicon Marsh in Central WI.

+6 F with a dull red sunrise. 10 -15 mph wind just to make things interesting. Wearing all the latest Gore-Tex, polar fleece, Thinsulate gloves, down vest, heavy pac boots.

The chicken wire/corn stalk blind offered little protection from the wind so I lined it with a GI army poncho as a windbreak. (I always plan ahead.)

We could see the geese 300 yards away siting on a patch of open water in the refuge.

After four hours the wind blew over some of the ground decoys so I walked out to fix them. I cleared the chamber of the 10 gauge Browning BPS before walking out in the corn stubble and found out I was so cold I couldn’t put the shell back in when I got back to the blind.

However this Super Bowl turns out it's going to be an improvement upon their last appearance, where they were clobbered by a team led by Trent Dilfer, the ne plus ultra of semi-competent, underwhelming, victorious Super Bowl QBs.

Two great games...a real treat!

I was torn, though.
One one hand, I wanted Brett to get a Super Bowl ring before he retires.
He had the best season of his career this year, so maybe he will hold out one more year.

OTOH, I surely like watching Eli, and am proud he’s going to the big game.

Seeing Archie, and how happy he was, was the icing on the cake.

Green Bay defeated a lot of teams this year by good margins, even if I don’t personally root for the Pack, I’ve got to hand it to them, they got to the NFC final after and it went into overtime for pete’s sakes.

Sure, Green Bay needs to think about their next quarterback but they had a successful year. If GB didn’t want him, maybe it would be like Joe Montana going to KC or something. He’d be signed right up by another team.

Yeah, they squandered some chances, but the Packers never got the chances. That last int was all on Favre.

The only way the Packers could have won is if Favre had been knocked out of the game, then they might have had a chance.

I remember when they played the Cowboys played them during the controversial NFL network game. Once Favre was gone, the Packers almost came back and won.

Patriots... Winners! Every other team (in the AFC)... Losers.

That's a bit of a harsh condemnation of the other 15 AFC teams.

Does that make the Patriots losers in the other 30+ seasons they didn't make it to the big show? Just sayin' ...

I can't imagine The Packers letting Bret Favre go-even though the prospect of him straggling on for another four or five years, Testaverde-like, probably doesn't appeal to them.

First of all, I don't even know if they have a capable replacement, a la Brady or Romo.

Secondly, there is a dearth of QB talent in this league.

The Bears or The Vikings would walk through lava to get a shot at obtaining someone like Favre.

Congrats to the Packers on an exceptional season. The team clearly has a bright immediate future with a good mixture of veterans and a deep core of young talent.

Favre’s overtime winning pass to Greg Jennings against Denver this year was one of my favorite plays of the year.

Wish us luck against the Pats - we’ll need it!

Favre has always thrown up big numbers against mediocre teams; that's why the sports media fawns over him. Without the crippling cold weather (which is a Green Bay advantage), the Giants would have beat them much worse. Luckily the Giants didn't lose cold induced fumbles.

A smart team wouldn't. An aging interception machine is not an asset.

I'm not a Giants fan, but I'm glad they won so that the Superbowl has a chance of being a competitive game. Throw in Favre against the Patriots and he'd throw 8-10 interceptions and the game would be a 60 to 7 rout.

Now you've got a competent Giants team, who's great on the road with a solid young quarterback, which could give the Pats a run for their money.
