As a Conservative I am lost. I will not, under any circumstances vote for John Mclame. He has sold Conservatives out. Nor will I vote for Jesus' favorite candidate Schmuckabee. I believe the most Conservative candidate is Thompson and can't help but wonder who is voting in these things. If Mclame or Schmuckabee is the nominee I can't vote. It will pain me deeply to not vote, but either of those clowns are no different from the lefty. Me question to my FRiends is.. WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO??? The situation seems rather desperate.

Ginsburg and Stevens are centurions who will leave the high court in the next four years, and their replacements CANNOT be decided by the Left.

Two schools of thought on that:
1) Tancredo was honoring his off-the-cuff World Series Wager (Tom's nothing if not honorable).
2) Bay Buchanan has strong Mormon ties, and was whispering Mitt's name in his ear.
Sorry to break this to you, but Mittens' current border stance is GHWB-style lip-service. For one thing, Mitt has family ties to Mexico. He's also very much in the pocket of the Rockefeller set. They're not about to give up their illegal labor.
He'll do exactly what Bush did about the border. He'll pretend to do nothing. Meanwhile, he'll stack the DOJ & DHS with pro-illegal activists (with marching orders to run-off anybody who tries to do something about it).
When/if we raise a fit, there will be a McCain Kennedy 'comprehensive reform' scare to shut us back up.
As for financial conservatism, he'll pass a couple skin-deep tax cuts and call it a 'stimulus package'.
Here's what else he'll do:
He'll pass numerous socialist mandates, then levy mandatory 'fees' to pay for them (neatly avoiding the 'tax' semantic with a bit of Huck/Clinton rhetoric). The net effect of this will be an increase in government intrusion AND across-the-board costs. The sheeple will think they're getting something for nothing (All hail the State!). Really we'll all end up paying about double what we were before for healthcare and (wrongly this time) blame the tort lawyers for it.
At Mitt's core, he doesn't really believe Marxism can accomplish any good in the world. He's only using it as a means to consolidate power and influence (all he really cares about IMHO). Socialism is great for consolidating power, and it usually works out great financially for the ruling class and their cronies. It's very, VERY bad for everyone else.
Anyone accusing Huck of using the Clinton playbook is right, but they're mistaken if they don't believe Mitt is as well.
All of the above, of course, would be on the outside chance that Mitt could take out Hillary. Not likely, IMHO. He'd be trying to out-Marxist the genuine article.

Your statement just PROVES your incomprehension of the Romney/Massachusetts plan.
Under the Mass plan, nothing changes. The rich still can buy better high-cost health plans, and the middle and low still have their middle-low health plan options.
Romney's main endeavor essentially negotiated with PRIVATE health care companies to develop plans to offer BULK-RATE low cost PRIVATE catastrophic health coverage plans.... for a LOW minimum premium of $90-$150.
He is trying to entice, dare I say force, people and yes, businesses to at least get catastrophic coverage ....
because statistics prove that even the well-off and middle class turn to GOVERNMENT Medicaid for financial help when they have an EXPENSIVE medical emergency.
There’s just one little problem with all of that.
If Mitt were really the person you describe, the media would love him.
They're honest-to-goodness Marxists like Hillary. They want the real deal. Why settle for man-dates when they can have her Thighness? They'll push McCain. A good number of conservatives will stay home, and they can detonate him on cue.
And what if that doesn’t happen? What if Thompson or Huck stay in the race? Are we doomed with a dual liberal ticket in november ala McCain and whoever the D chooses?
Hucakbee's resources are dried up.
He had a win in a weird state, but could not cash it in in S.Carolina.
Things are going to get too tough for him in the big media states like Florida.
Thompson has no desire to run and will drop out, probably endorsing McCain.
Unless Rudy has a big win in Florida, he will fade quickly and it will come down to Mitt (who has deep pockets) and McCain.
I think most conservatives will gravitate towards Mitt since he is at least reasonable.
McCain will never take anyone's advice and believes he is never wrong.
If McCain is prodded in the debates, that implactiabity will surface.
Everything you say may come true but at this point in time we don’t know and it’s possible none of it will.
What if Huckabee and Thompson don’t drop out?
Even if they do what if they don’t endorse anyone?
For all of McCain’s well known stubbornness what if he makes some 180 Degree turns on things like immigration just to confuse the unwashed. I wouldn’t buy it but some people will buy the Golden Gate Bridge.
Suppose McCain and Romney get to the convention with the bulk of the delegates but not enough to win the nomination. Guiliani, Huckabee, or Thompson by winning a controlling portion of the remaining delegates could be in a position to either deadlock it permanently or control the actual winner if an outside candidate is named.
I guess we’ll have to see. It looks like the moons are aligning here at FR for mitt against mccain.

It’s called backup plans. The media already have one with Huckabee, they’d have more if they existed.

It seems like the vast majority of my fellow conservatives view McCain as a threat, and his own record makes me see why.
Mitt on the other hand, has quite a few negatives, isn’t a clear and present threat the way McCain is. There only seem to be a handful of fellow conservatives who won’t support him.
I’d hate to sit november out, I want to go out and vote, but McCain is just simply trash.

Well, don't sit the election out, don't forget there are other offices that are at stake as well.
I think Huckabee and Thompson are going to drop out at least after Florida which is a very expensive market.

I agree that is a possibility, but again, they may influence who the eventual winner is, but they themselves will not be the candidate.
And who do you think Thompson would throw his delegates to in a brokered convention?
It won't be Rudy, Mitt, or Hucakbee that is for sure!
I’ll be there to vote for my state/local stuff, but McCain is unconsiderable for a vote. I don’t care that I’m only one voice. McCain is beneath me.

We sat around and watched while the liberals took out our leaders with lies and Macca and did nothing.
Having Ginsburg and Stevens replaced by a dem will do nothing to the make up of the court. And do you think Mccain would appoint somebody in the Scalia mold or in the Souter mold, I think the latter is closer to reality. As far as “growing up” I Did it with Dole and Others on the State level. No more.
