Romney flip flops as badly as Kerry or Huckabee. These days he talks like a conservative, but I don't recollect him governing like one. I have no idea what I'd get with him.

I certainly don't agree with McCain on everything, but I feel like I know what to expect with him.

All that being said, Fred can make a nice VP candidate for someone.

No, that would be incorrect. McCain has flip flopped consistently on the campaign trail. He now says he wants the Bush Tax cuts made permanent (and he voted against them TWICE). He wants to close Gitmo (Fred disagrees). Ideologically Fred is much closer to Mitt than Fred.
If he endorsed McKennedy then he lied to everyone.

Romney did cut taxes and kept down the growth of government. What you are not factoring in is him being surrounded by liberals on all sides and needing to bend a bit in order to get some good done. He was in a very difficult postition.
