McCain Wins South Carolina GOP Primary, AP Projects
AP | Jan. 19, 2008 | Breaking News

Sen. John McCain won Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, AP projects.

Fox News and NBC News exit polls ranked the economy as the top concern among South Carolina primary voters, followed by illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, and terrorism.

Columnist and Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol commenting on Saturday's results on the Fox News Channel said that the Republican field is now winnowing down to just three viable candidates: McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani.

>I can’t believe Ron Paul finished second in Nevada! WHAT’S HAPPENING??!!!<

Believe it or not, Nevada is a very conservative state overall. And we don’t much like the federal government running our lives. :)

Exactly!
In November I am going to the polls to vote against John Spratt and not vote at all for Lindsey Graham or Huck/McCain.
RINOS are slow but certain death for a free America.
Hillary/Obama/Edwards are deadly to the US as well, but at least we know where they are comming from and can re-inforce our conservative base to thwart them as we did with Reagan after Carter.
Realpolitik—live it or perish.

10 months ago the only guy who could beat Hillary was Rudy G. Yet we are suppose to trust polling data 10 months in advance of a General Election to tell us who is going to "Win"? Anyone really think McCain would survive a war with Clinton Inc?

Really tough for the party in the WH to win 3 elections running. Who has a better chance beating a Democrat Senator? Another Senator or someone NOT tied to the DC political machine?

Let us look at the historic record since 1976.

Carter ran as the populist outsider against DC. Carter Won.

1980. Reagan ran as an outsider going to DC to clean up the mess. Reagan won

1984. Old Machine politician and former Senator Mondale ran by the Democrats against Reagan. Reagan won.

1988. VP running on the Reagan legacy against a DC outsider barely won.

1992 DC outsider ran against sitting President. Outsider Clinton won.

1996 Old career Senator named Dole with a stellar war record ran against Sitting President. President Clinton won.

2000 DC outsider ran against sitting President's VP, outsider Bush won by a few hundred votes.

2004 Old career Senator named Kerry with a supposed stellar war record ran against sitting President. President won.

2008. The GOP Establishment plans to run an old tired worn out career Senator with a war record against the former 1st Lady or a 1 term Senator.

Based on that historic record just WHY should I hope McCain has any chance at all against Clinton Inc?

I do not understand your entire election process...

If you lived in the US you'd see it's very simple, the media likes to pick the candidates for us.

To all those who disparaged Huckabee as "not conservative". You got what you asked for. McCain will likely now beat Guliani in Florida, take the lead in delegates, and force a McCain-Romney battle. Had the shortsighted idiots, like Limbaugh, had the intelligence to realize spending 98% of their time attacking Huckabee helped McCain, they might have thought differently.

Both McCain and Huckabee are amnesty loving liberals.

Anybody who voted for these two candidates are responsible for the mess that we are in.

McCain was nowhere is this race until the DBM starting pushing Huckabee. And idiots like you bought it.

McCain is extremely, and openly hostile to Conservatives. He hates us, and has said so many times. He is campaigning against us, and campaigning for liberals, using liberal speak. He uses his buds in the liberal press against us, and the President. He uses the MSM FOR his friends, the liberals, in the Senate, he flirted with Kerry for VP, during wartime, FGS.

FR may hate RG, but he does not hate us, has not vowed to work against us, hasn’t stabbed the President in the back, has campaigned for prolife, social conservatives since 98, and certainly is not running a liberal campaign, quite the opposite.

If the Mayor opens up on McCain for his weakness in the WOT, torture, his pussyfooting with the ACLU about Gitmo, (RG does hate the ACLU,lol), and proves he can bring his law and order attitude toward illegal when McCain can’t, RG could pull it off.

Who knows, I’ll take him anyday over McCain or Huck, no contest. Romney is a good technician and man, but I’m not sure he would battle the Dims orthodoxy as well as RG.

I am afraid you are correct.  I cringed when I heard the radio hosts losing their grip.  Rush does not officially endorse, but he desperately tried to control the outcome.  For Rush, it's him versus the MSM and the MSM is winning with McCain.

Rush has a larger non-following than following.   I hope he learned this after Iowa.

He is a push over for a socialist elected Hillary.

Look at the EDUCATED pundits who forecast a McCain v Hillary race. NO ONE agrees with you! Ever Democrats on the networks tonight admit McCain would be the hardest Republican for Ms. Clinton to beat (Romney or Huckabee the easiest).

McCain won it in the lowcountry, an area entrenched with old Dixiecrats and retired military.

Fox news talking points. Why would true patriotic military types back the same guy who wanted to be John Kerry's VP? The favorite Republican of the traitorcrats is the favorite Republican of our retired vets? That would be scary, if I actually believed it.

When push comes to shove, I think anyone too obstinate to vote for McCain, if he’s the nominee, is what the Vice President calls “Big Time.”

If the dems get in, two Supremes will be nominated, thereby securing Roe, and any state regs that might dilute it will be history, as well as more interpretative law being created from the bench. Dems will make us less safe, go around apologizing to world leaders for the fact they are American, and let indentity groups continue their shakedown.

Don’t make perfect the enemy of good. I personally am sick of people’s “take their marbles and go home” shitty attitude. Get over yourselves, or run for office if you don’t like what’s out there.

Your analysis makes so much sense and should make every conservative pause as the media leads our country down the drain. McCain is a hero, but he sure is not mentally up to the office he seeks. He reads verbatim almost all of his remarks. Romney or Thompson are our best hope and Romney has a record to run on. He is not Reagan who was once a Democrat, but he has an attractive family and possesses the ability to communicate well. The media generally belittles and demeans Romney. Libs fear a conservative that can communicate well. Look what they tried to do to Reagan and Newt. Romney can think on his feet and does not fear any venues.

I find myself agreeing with you... and I was as against Giuliani as anyone could be (or so I thought).

I still think Romney is the best of a bad lot, but I’m opening up to Giuliani. At this point, my only goal is stopping McCain. He’s the worst person in the field, on either side. If he wins, the party dies.
