As a Fred supporter, what would your feelings be if he teamed up on a ticket with McCain with Thompson being the VP?

Would like to hear from any other Fred supporters on what they think of this combo.

Any ticket with McCain or Huck on it, is a ticket I will never vote for- no matter who the VP is.

I said on another thread that if I can't have Fred as president, I'll gladly take him as vp, though I can't see him and McCain working all that well togather. McCain's an egotist always willing to drop his shorts and bend over for Kennedy and Kerry. IMO, Fred wouldn't deal well with that...on the OTHER hand, Fred would be a BALANCING influence on McInsane's behavior.

As for those pulling out the tinfoil...they don't and never have supported Fred. They're Hunter/Paulites who've teamed up with Huckabees cheerleaders to smear Fred with lies and innuendo.

McLame (D-AZ) isn't even on the radar. Have you ever heard Jeri speak? Wow! A Thompson/Thompson ticket would get my vote.

Other offerings - Thompson/Hunter, Thompson/Petraeus & Thompson/Cheney. (Keeping the leftists in therapy for another eight years would do the country good.)

I was standing about 6 feet away from Fred when the VP question was asked at a campaign appearance. With my own eyes, I watched him say “NO”. If he were to take a VP spot, his reputation of honesty would be forever damaged.

No, NO, NOOOOOOO.

No matter WHO McCain chooses- he will not get my vote.

We have early voting in Florida- I’ve been this week and voted for Fred. I don’t give a good damn what the polls anywhere say- I vote for the BEST.

If it ain’t Fred, I would go for a Romney/Thompson ticket. Romney is energetic and telegenic and electable, I’ll give him that. And Fred could be the “wise head” who helps keep Mitt closer to the conservative cause.

I would have the same feeling that I would about McCain/AnyoneElse. No thanks. One less thing to do on election day.

I’m a very serious Fredhead but a McCain/Thompson ticket would erode alot of the good I see in Thompson. I would lose a tremendous amount of respect for the man.

I'd be very surprised if Fred would ever run in the 2nd slot. He knows how unimportant it is (Cheney was an anomaly). It's usually a steppingstone to the Presidency for someone 10 years younger than Fred.

I can't imagine he's interested in anything other than the Presidency. All that said, I hope he stays in for Florida no matter the outcome today. As has been mentioned on several other threads, he seems to be hitting his stride.

This is a race for delegates and he's still got time.

I would say this is highly unlikely in two ways: 1) Fred said he wouldn’t be VP to anyone; 2) McCain has almost 0 chance to get the nomination—he doesn’t have support of the conservative base, which is > 50% of the primary vote. Nor does Rudy.

Count their combined totals in any poll. It never exceeds 40%. The chance of your scenario is less than 1%.

That said, I’ll support any Republican candidate over any Dem candidate, for they will do less damage to the country.

Unacceptable and not going to happen. Fred is running because the ground troops asked him to. He's running for President and nothing else, imo.

With McCain on the ticket, I vote third party or write in.

I would be very annoyed with a McCain/Thompson ticket. I’d rather see a younger VP candidate like a Mike Pence - a solid, younger, tough, take-no-prisoners conservative who can articulate conservative principles. Then look out for Pence in 2012!

OK but only after a one-term pledge by McCain, McCain changing his mind on GoreBull Warming, a strong anti-horsemanure-legislation cloture-proof Senate, a pledge to support the Bush tax cuts, a pledge to charge Mexico & other countries of origin for the cost of their illegals, a promise to put Janice Rogers Brown on the SCOTUS, etc. etc.
