Today is the day.

And Tancredo, too, now that I think about it.
From Timeout: “If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck”
“Well I’m sure glad you are not because that’s the dumbest thing I heard in a while.”
And I made the mistake of thinking that timeout was from South Carolina. I agree with you that voting for Huckabee to keep McCain out is stupid! Like Rush and Mark have been saying, the MSM is pumping up McCain and or Huckabee to be our nominee. It is obvious! I would venture to say that my poll is more on the mark than those of the MSM. I have McCain,Huckabee and Fred tied for first place. Those folks who like Fred but think they should vote for Huckabee to keep McCain out would be doing exactly what the MSM want! I hope that those who like Fred will follow their hearts and not listen to the MSM! If they likd Fred Thompson they should give him their vote NOW when it will really help Fred win! GO FRED!
Ok, so why is everyone at freerepublic wetting their panties about Mike Huckabee?
Pictures on thread are real killers for those of us with dial-up. Please be gentle with posting them on live threads.
The Jimmy Carter comparisons are manifest and many.
Casting big govt policies and naive foreign policy prescriptions into Christian terms was a hallmark of Jimmy Carter and is a hallmark of Huckabee. The petty ethics issues that Carter brought, ie the Billy Carter factor, is alive and well with Huckabee.
But overall there is the fact that Huckabee is pulling a fast one on people. Clinton + Carter = Huckabee.
There are many problems with Huckabee:

Huckabee is a terrible choice, perhaps the worst choice, in the nomination race for many reasons:
1. Soft-on-crime Governor who went on a pardon/commutation spree that included freeing a dozen murderers and hundreds of other felons from jail early
2. Pro-instate-tuition for illegal aliens and for other giveaways
3. A liberal Tax-and-spender who increased taxes by 50% as Governor
4. Dissembled about his record when challenged
5. Not a conservative, but hurt conservatives in Arkansas, and called them “Shiites” when they opposed him
6. Had numerous ethics violations, including issues of taking public money for private use
7. Has flipflopped on immigration, on tax pledges, on Cuba, and other issues
8. Is an incompetent Jimmy Carteresque boob on foreign policy who even joked about his ignorance on the topic
9. Will get beaten easily by the Democrats
10. Is a nanny-stater in favor of smoking bans and CO2 caps
All have some Carteresque flavor. Now, on point #8 ....
Huck is completely ignorant on foreign policy, and when he gabs about it, he sounds like Jimmy Carter; closing Gitmo and stopping waterboarding is not the toughness we need:
This is the kernel of Huckabees foreign policy. He wants to anthropomorphize international relations and bring a Christian commitment to the Golden Rule to our affairs with other nations. As he told the Des Moines Register the other day, You treat others the way youd like to be treated. Thats to me the fundamental issue that has to be re-established in our dealings with other countries.
This is deeply naïve. Countries arent people, and the world is more dangerous than a Sunday church social. Threats, deception, and as a last resort violence must play a role in international relations. Differences cannot always be worked out through sweet persuasion. A U.S. president who doesnt realize this will repeat the experience of President Jimmy Carter at his most ineffectual.
Here you go Freepers:
1. Huckabee
2. McCain
3. Romney
4. Thompson
5. Rudy G
6. Ron Paul
7. Duncan Hunter

Correct, you can only vote in one primary.
Whew...my nerves are shot- how bout you? :)
Please tell Kristi congratulations and a following sea.
When are the Democrats having their primary in SC?
You’re right whenever I think of McCain and a SCOTUS nomination I rememebr the Gang of 14. McCain is absolutely unacceptable.
Thank you for providing that lovely feast!
Go FRED!
Agreed. Let’s hope we don’t have to make that choice.
Chard, FRed, Chard!!
Sounds about right, Fred may edge Myth for 3rd.
