This is tons better than Bush's plan!! I'm starting to like Romney--except he may not be serious, just pandering.

And BTW, tax cuts are not costs!!

Romney plans to propose permanently reducing the rate for the lowest income tax bracket to 7.5 percent from 10 percent, retroactive to 2007, eliminating Social Security payroll taxes for workers over 65 and eliminating capital gains and dividend taxes on households earning under $200,000 a year, CNBC said on its Web site.

He would also permanently reduce the corporate tax rate to 20 percent from 35 percent over two years and allow businesses to depreciate the value of new equipment purchases faster.

I think is very well done by Governor Romney. That appears to me to be a well thought-out mix of tax cuts, and I think that indeed it would have a positive economic effect. For what it is worth, I think it would have enough positive effect on the economy to more than pay for itself.

Of course, some spending cuts would also be a good idea; for instance, eliminating the federal Department of Education would make a nice complement to the tax cuts.

When I heard a blurb about this, it made it sound like he was just out-bidding Bush.

But when I read the plan, it costs more because he is making tax cuts permanent as part of it, which other people aren’t but we all agree should be done. It just shouldn’t be counted as part of the of the “economic stimulus”, because it’s just the right thing to do.

If it's a tax cut, just whom does it cost? Sounds to me like it's a benefit, not a cost.

The government needs to divorce itself from the economy except when it comes to their duty of holding trading partners to the same standard of fairness and not providing slave or artificially cheap ( illegal alien ) labor to the business community.

Round up and expel the illegals and there is no longer any unemployment and employers will need to raise wages and benefits to keep their employees happy.

The cognitive dissonance will be out of control this election season as the Democrats and fake Republicans emote about how we need the illegals to fill jobs while also emoting about rampant unemployment of the citizenry.

Bravo to Romney for proposing the right kind of stimulus - permanent structural tax relief that will get businesses back on track and get savings and investment flowing and give money to middle class taxpayers. This is the most Reaganesque tax proposal we have seen in a loong time.

This stimulus is only 2% of GDP, so will easily pay for itself if the economy staves off a recession, which it will do.

It’s a pity we cant get him into the White House now, with a GOP Congress, to pass it.

If you really want to stimulate the economy, how about not taking the $250 billion in the first place!
