Setting aside the hatred most of you have for Ron Paul, what do you think of what's going on in Nevada?

Looks like the Ron Paul people are searching for something to blame for Paul not doing well in Nevada.

Well, bearing in mind this is a Paul press release, we don’t have any reason to believe any of the comments describing the process.
If the Nevada GOP is comfortable with their procedures, and the GOP voters in Nevada are comfortable with their procedures , then what’s the problem?
Pretty much any candidate whose internal polls show a defeat in an election will want it postponed.

The situation sounds less like a “caucus”, and more like “cock-and-bull”.

Sorry, can’t set aside my feelings for Paul. How does anyone watch the last debate and still cast a vote for Paul? The dude is certifiable!!!!

Its Nevada what you you expect but confusion ;-)
Both parties seem to have real issues with their caucuses.

I would have to agree that the local Republican Party has done a very poor job of letting Republicans know about the caucus process. I know where I am supposed to go on Saturday mainly because I saw a website listed in an email I received and took the imitative to find out the time and location of my caucus. There are 3 registered voters in my household, but only one received a postcard with the caucus information. Meanwhile, the media has been almost entirely emphasizing the Democrat caucus.
Re: Ron Paul, I believe that he will actually do relatively well. I have probably received at least one to three pieces of campaign literature a week from him for the past several months. Ron Paul has his homemade looking “Ron Paul Revolution” signs plastered all over town. His radio commercials too have run nonstop for months. They do a good job of making him sound so “mainstream” and so “reasonable” that I expect many people who do not check further will not realize that he is actually the Dennis Kucinich (whom he said he would support if not in the race) of the Republican Party. In contrast to Ron Paul, I have only received a few pieces of literature from Mitt, and none from the others. I think I have heard some Mitt ads on the radio or TV.

I live near Reno. The party sent me a caucus notice with the wrong location. I don’t think this is a Paul issue. I think it reflects badly on the party. I received a corrected notice yesterday but not everyone gets their mail every day out here in the sticks. I, for instance, live 5 miles from my mailbox on a snow-covered and muddy road and only check my mail twice a week. This is not unusual here.

I think the caucus should be closed to all but registered Republicans. I don't think that someone should be able to sign an affidavit and then vote in a GOP caucus. That process seems an invitation to fraud. I am worried about a lack of ballots in any caucus election.

It looks like the Republicans want only Republicans to cast ballots. I know why cut and runs folks are unhappy. They know NO Republican would ever vote for a white flag waving blame America first anti-American.

The Independent American Party is the Nevada affiliate of the Constitution Party. Though they will likely have their own Presidential candidate, they have endorsed Ron Paul for the Republicans, and have encouraged their voters to identify themselves as Republicans and support Ron Paul at the caucuses.
Nevada is not supposed to have "open" caucuses.

However, on January 17 the policy was changed for a third time, as the state party announced that affidavits would be in use throughout the state, subject to the discretion of county central committees and chairs. Personally, I find it pretty disgusting that so many Freepers are OK with letting county chairs decide who gets to vote just because they think it will hurt a candidate they don't like this time around.
On top of disgusting, it becomes outright stupid when it is all to hurt a candidate who doesn't have a shot of winning anyway.

I haven’t read the rest of the thread yet, however, it’s not just Ron Paul being affected. The Republican caucass are a mess. We are being told to show up at 9:00am and today I learn that it’s necessary to sign in at 8:30. The caucas location for one Carson City precinct changed TODAY, however, everyone has already received postcards giving the now incorrect location.
