PROSPERITY, S.C. -- Fred Thompson called on Mike Huckabee to put a stop to push polling calls that misrepresent Thompsons record.
I find it ironic that this man would talk about cleaner politics and rising above the fray, Thompson said, while this is going on right under his nose.
At an event in Prosperity today, a Thompson volunteer stood up during the audience questions portion and said a lot of people had received negative phone calls that misrepresented your record.
Really? Thompson asked, seeming genuinely surprised. Could I ask you to raise your hand if you got a phone call like that?
Roughly half the 75 people in attendance raised their hands.
Good gracious, Thompson said. Who do they say is calling? Do they say anything good about any candidate?
Huckabee, the audience responded.

An obvious lie. It is what huckabee is all about.

Heads up, kids...Rush about to discuss a major news story on Fred.
New fox poll for SC just came out. Fred in 4th at 11%. The push-polls are working
Rush just said to stay tuned...he has news on a Fred surge in SC.
Huh? Are you reading the same sentence I did?
half the 75 people in attendance raised their hands.
Seems plain to me.
No conclusion jumping at all. It was at a steak house where a dozen would probably be around 10% of the room capacity.
Ed Rollins is a shamless scum bag, nuff said.
As I already said, I missed the word ‘half’ in the sentence. My mistake.
Huckabee has nothing to do with these calls. They are an independent campaign.
Are these coming from that DBT SVCS 616 number?
What time of day are they calling?
Bull.
Thanks for the input. I live in the NY area and don’t have any sense of the small-town reality. I really hope Fred pulls out a surprise victory in SC.
And how many people were there? The article doesn't say.
“Huckabee has nothing to do with these calls. They are an independent campaign.”
Yeah right. It takes resources to put something of that magnitude together so quickly. Huck’s true colors are becoming clearer every day.
How many people can fit into one room in the average Golden Corral restaurant?
Maybe not as bad as it seems at 1st sight.
Latest population figure is 1,047, with average household size of 2.5 and the percentage of family households at about 70%. Percentage of Republicans voting in 2004 was 62%.
From all of that, we can estimate that there are 400 to 500 Republican voters. So, on a weekday, Thompson pulled in about 75 out of 400 to 500. Many of the rest were on the job working, I would imagine.
Roughly half the 75 people in attendance raised their hands.
I guess blame reporter grammar or something.
About 75 people were there, roughly half of them raised their hands.
Thanks.
Apparently about one hundred and twenty based on your previous post saying that 12 people is about 10% of capacity. That's still no indication of how many people were actually present.
