Yes, the naming off states was never the problem, it was the scream.

McCain did the same thing in his NH victory speech.

Sorry Freepers, but Huckabee is going to win SC by at least 5%.

And he's going to have his ass handed to him on 5-Feb.

RNC said that they would strip half of the MI delegates. Therefore, the MI GOP primary still awards half of the usual MI delegates. (Some observers think that the sanction will be canceled before the convention.)

In contrast, the DNC sanctioned the MI Dem primary by refusing any delegates selected therein. That’s why no Dems campaigned there and Obama & Edwards were not on the ballot. (Again, it is unclear if the sanction will be relaxed later, but I don’t how they could b/c many Obama and Edwards may not have bothered to vote.)

Iowa and NH pressured the national parties to protect their privileged status. Other states, such as MI, wanted to get the benefits of going early in the process. Several states, including MI, bucked the national parties, thumbed their nose at the primary rules set by the national parties. Those states are getting spanked.

FUBAR. I just hope, but doubt, that the media would blast the Dems for disenfranchising voters in several states after the Dems absurd “count ever vote” war cry of 8 years ago.

somehow I don’t see any of these candidates being anyones VP choice.

Too much swashbuckling to be viable team.

I would much rather have a veteran of a war for Commander in chief than someone with no experience...

Duncan Hunter is a decorated Vietnam veteran and has been on the Armed forces committee for the 27 years he has been in congress...

He is the ranking member on the AF committee and was the Chairman till 2006...

I was thinking the same thing. Whenever people attack him on his RECORD, he returns fire with a juvenile insult. It’s getting real old, real fast.

The best hit he could get in on Fred was that he was a registered lobbyist for a foreign government. DUH...it’s called representing your client, Gomer.

Hank

Fox news just replayed that part of the speech, and it sounded like the spruced it up a bit.

I would love to see Santorum on the ticket. My point, however, is that - even though it is VERY early - as a party we are not coalescing around any one or two candidates. We are pretty fractured. I can see a scenario where coastal states - CT, NY, PA, NJ, CA, FL, etc - go Rudy; the Bible belt goes Huckleberry; Romney, and McCain each pick up states as they go along, and - who knows - maybe even Fred has his day in the sun.

It is so wide open at this point, that I can see a possibility that we won’t know who the nominee is going in to the convention this summer. If that happens - a VERY big if I know - then could we end up with somebody OTHER than any one who is currently running. Do we have a Conservative Bobby Kennedy who can emerge and step forward to lead us to victory in November (Mr. Newt, JC, Rick, somebody, anybody?!?)?

I loved Duncan Hunter as a candidate, he has a great deal going for him, but he just couldn’t win yet over the big names to be President.

Would have loved a Hunter/Tancredo ticket, but that got lost somewhere in the shuffle.

Meanwhile, on the Dem Dark side, the knives are coming out for Obama...Hillary's supporters are starting to mention the Obama/Farrakhan link via his church's pastor.

Hillary is going to destroy Obama and she will be the Democrat nominee. She'll probably pick Clark or Richardson as veep. The flying monkeys in the MSM will cover the land. We will need to fight harder than we have ever fought to send this pestilence away.

No, no. Not California. That's not the West...California is white wine & brie!

I'm thinking more of a Dick Cheney type. Maybe Colorado. But someone who can address western concerns. Based on the electoral map, I think that's where the battleground is going to be.

“If Romney had served in the US military instead of hiding out in France, I would respect him for that as I respect McCain and Duncan Hunter...

His wimpy excuse for his FIVE eligible sons is insulting to the men and women in uniform...”

Oh get off it. Do you have any clue how many families have sons who don’t go into the military? Most of them. That isn’t the only measure of a man, whether he goes into the military or not. Otherwise, our country is just chock full of wimpy men who haven’t served. Geez....

Plus, he wasn’t “hiding” out in France. He was doing his service, which is required of young Mormon men that they spend a year (or 2?) doing missionary work for the Church. That is why he was in France. And each of his 5 sons would have had to have done so also. So, that is what they were doing when they were young men, they were doing God’s work. Got a problem with that?

Brokered convention gives The Beast more time to win over voters. If that happens, we’re screwed.

Oh, and BTW... the last night of the GOP convention’s going to be covered up by the NFL kickoff game (brilliant move, GOP), so whatever speech the eventual nominee gives isn’t going to be heard. Doubly screwed.

Do we have a backup plan?

"Remember, we're watching hard-nosed, big league politics, not amateurs posting on a political forum."  and "I would rather have Thomas Sowell President than you doing my laundry."

That's two of your posts from tonight that I got a chuckle out of.  :-)
