Our country is definitely in a cultural fight for its life. And what's at stake is the very heart and core of America ...
More than any other election in decades, this presidential one has erected a fighting ring in which conservatism will either maintain its title or be stripped of it by the appointment of leadership that will champion secular progressive change...
Even now our own GOP candidates are wrestling over who is truly conservative.
At the last round of debates, Fred Thompson, degraded by his own dilapidating campaign and threatened by Mike Huckabee's lead in the polls, tried to liberalize Mike ...
Even radio host Rush Limbaugh heckled Huckabee with a similar liberal lashing, accusing him of not being a conservative in the line of Ronald Reagan an unfortunate "Rush to judgment"...
Any GOP candidate can be dissected to a point that he is railed for having liberal tendencies...
And while former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is also a friend, his record of consistently voting against tort reform, opposing the impeachment of Bill Clinton on perjury, supporting opponents of Reagan (Ford and Baker) in 1976 and 1980, and failing to support federal constitutional amendments that would ban abortion and gay marriage doesn't exactly make him "the only true conservative."
To be fair, even if Reagan himself were running today, he likely couldn't dodge liberal labeling, especially for his signing of the Immigration Control and Reform Act of 1986, which granted amnesty to aliens who resided in the U.S. since before 1982.
As I've already shown in my past WND columns, most liberal accusations against Mike Huckabee's record on immigration, taxes and crime are also biased, out-of-context rushes to judgment.
The complete record and platform [link in post #2] of this former Arkansas governor reveals a tried-and-true conservative.

“I would think the 1000+ pardons would bother him. We need to reason with Chuck.”
I’m pretty sure that number includes sentences that were merely commuted.
Yep, that is what we hear every time a Huckster fan is asked to respond to David Thompson's letter.
Next thing you know, Huckabee will accuse David Thompson of being a relative of Fred Thompson.
“Fred DOES however want to strike down Roe vs. Wade.”
Or at least he pretends he does:

Sorry, Chuckie, just to many head kicks. Please just go away!
We've had a shortage of bad guys because Chuck Norris killed them all. These pardons provide more bad guys for Chuck to kill. ;-)
I guess Chuck didn't get the memo.
Stay in the audience, Chuck. Fedor Thompson is back in the ring.
I WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE HUCKSTER....Chuck you are WRONG ON THIS
That is exactly right.
It is hard to believe that somebody who for years passionately played a Texas Ranger on TV could support an assclown like the Huckster; an assclown who has absolutely no respect for crime victims and their families.
Add that to the Huckster's pandering to illegals and their anchor babies, his comfort level on tax hikes, and his smarmy use of Christianity as a political gimmick, and I simply could never vote for the Huckster. No way.
Excellent post!
Anyone who is supporting Huckabee is either very ignorant to his policies or are just not conservative to begin with.
“Prove what David Thompson has said is untrue, can you?”
Not right now.
“People who insist on tinkering with the US Constitution are anything but conservative.”
Would you apply that claim to the Founding Fathers who insisted on adding the Bill of Rights?
If Arkansas is choosing Fred Thompson and giving Huckabee such little support that should tell everyone who is supporting him something.

“Im not denigrating the messenger. Im sure hes a nice guy.”
For the record, I’m not so sure.
“From my experiences with state politicos, there are always rivalries and many get very personal. Anyone can create a list of grievances.”
David Thompson’s suggestion that those accusations are based on some kind of firsthand knowledge is patently absurd. The letter is essentially a compendium of talking points and out-of-context quotations from every major smear campaign waged against Governor Huckabee in his entire political career.
Too many blows to the head in the making of Delta Force.
His support of the Huckster has only caused me to lose respect for Norris.
“What about what the conservatives are accusing Huckabee of?”
I’m pretty sure Chuck intended the phrase “liberal accusations” in reference to accusations that Governor Huckabee is a liberal, as opposed to accusations made by liberals.
