Idaho Romney Supporters Stand By Candidate After New Hampshire Loss
KIVI-TV ^ | Jan 9, 2008

Mitt Romney supporters in Idaho won't say they're disappointed in their candidate's finish Tuesday night, but State Schools Superintendent Tom Luna says he is anxious. "But I suspect that no matter who you're supporting right now on either party, cause its so fluid."

Right now, there's no clear front runner for the Republican presidential nomination. That's despite Romney spending far more money than any other candidate in both New Hampshire and Iowa and still losing both. But his Idaho campaign chair Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch says Romney's in a good position, because he has more delegate votes right now than any other candidate. Risch says, "You can be gathering votes, even winding up second in the race and be in the position that he's in. Where he as the most committed delegates right now."

Right now, Romney has 24 delegates and his closest competitor Mike Huckabee has 18. That means the most important primaries are yet to come.

Romney does have 30 delegates. He has an additional “6 super delegates”.

Delegate count for all the states through New Hampshire so far is:

Romney: 30
Huckabee: 21
McCain: 10
Thompson: 6
Paul: 2
Hunter: 1
Guiliani: 1

Magic Number 1,191

It wasn’t socialized medicine, it was private insurance. I guess you believe paying for auto insurance is socialized also.

Romney did not institute gay marriage. He even lobbied congress to pass a bill to define marriage between a man and a woman.

Name one other candidate who has fought this issue?

The NRA endorsed the gun bill pass in Mass.

Your constant posting of lies and distortions undermines this site and makes it no better than DU.

You need to grow up and get some class.

Every one of my assertions is easily provable, and in fact has been irrefutably proven, time and again, on FR.

Do you have something other than blathering to add to the discussion, or is your brain so atrophied from Romney worship that you can’t objectively look at the facts of a politician’s record anymore?

They have also been disproven irrefutably time and again on FR.

Are you aware that, even though Romney now runs away from almost everything he’s ever said or done in politics his whole adult life, that he still advocates for a federal “assault” weapons ban?

Somehow, in the end, I can’t see that playing too well in Idaho.

For those that have real questions, they can start here. We already know you won’t, as the facts don’t matter to you.

The best spin money can buy. And still utterly unconvincing.

Idaho is firmly behind Romney.

Bush said that he would have signed the assault weapons ban, had it come to his desk.

Just another political football that has been proven to have been ineffective anyway.

People like you use it as a club to trash other candidates.

A very lame sport.

Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban

- July 08, 2004

Governor Mitt Romney has signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban that he says will make it harder for criminals to get their hands on these guns.

“Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts,” Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1... “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Like the federal assault weapons ban, the state ban, put in place in 1998, was scheduled to expire in September. The new law ensures these deadly weapons, including AK-47s, UZIs and Mac-10 rifles, are permanently prohibited in Massachusetts no matter what happens on the federal level.

“We are pleased to mark an important victory in the fight against crime,” said Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey. “The most important job of state government is ensuring public safety. Governor Romney and I are determined to do whatever it takes to stop the flood of dangerous weapons into our cities and towns and to make Massachusetts safer for law-abiding citizens.”

Are you aware that Governor Romney picked more non-Republicans than Republicans, even liberal ones like himself, for the courts?

As I said, the Assualt Weapons Ban, that Bush said he would sign, is just a political football, used mainly by the left to trash republicans....I see that is your favorite hobby. Are you a liberal?

Are you aware that the Romney administration picked two gay men as their “adoptive parents of the year” for 2006? Do you think Idahoans are going to agree with that kind of societally destructive nonsense?

No, I’m not a liberal. I don’t support gun-grabbing leftist former Governors of Massachusetts.

The figure on the spire is the angel Moroni . I believe it is on all LDS temples , except the South Jordan , Utah temple as it was dedicated just after the 1978 revelation with allowed all worthy members , blacks included , to full participation , therefore that sculpture was Louis Armstrong .

Do you deny that Mitt Romney changed the marriage licences in Massachusetts to allow gay “marriage,” and threatened justices of the peace with firing if they did not comply by performing gay “weddings,” all in spite of the fact that there was no constitutional or legal power or compulsion for him to do so?

Do you deny that Mitt Romney picked a radical gay activist to serve on the bench?
