Ron Paul, get out of the Republican Party.
Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

Leave. Just go.

Mr. Paul, you are NOT a Republican. You may have views that intersect with some aspects of the Republican platform. That does NOT make you a Republican.

The Republican Party is a big tent movement. We don't apply nearly the same strictness when it comes to tests of ideological purity as the Democrats do, but we still have some standards. And you, sir, do not even come close to meeting them.

People who blame America for the acts of war made against it are not Republicans.

People who think that we blew up our own buildings on 9/11...or who hint that we might have...or who attract the support of people with such beliefs...are not Republicans.

People who may be receiving secret funding from George Soros...and who certainly receive energy and succor from radical leftists...are not Republicans.

People who have become the darling of, and the recipient of support from, America's neo-Nazis and white supremacists---and who refuse to openly repudiate that support---are not Republicans.

And people who publish racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-American newsletters...are not Republicans.

Oh, and your protestations of innocence regarding this racist, anti-Semitic, anti-American newsletter to which you attached your name are absurd. As Jonah Goldberg said yesterday on the Michael Medved show, if...

if Paul supporters were really interested in limited government they would support Fred, Duncan, or Mitt

What departments of the Federal Government have been recommended for deletion by any of the above candidates?

I am not being a wise guy here. I would gladly support anyone (other than Ron Paul) who has at least a comparable desire to cut the Fed juggernaut off at the knees.

Right. If that were the case, Michael Dukakis would have been President in 1989. If anything, Paul would hurt the Democrat candidate more than the Republican.

You reminded me of something, during that campaign, Paul admitting he would try to swing votes to Dukakis.

I want a candidate who is Rudy on foreign policy and Paul on domestic policy. No one seems to fill the bill. Thompson and Hunter are good on the first half but fall way short on the second.

Can’t speak to the others. But Hunter has vowed to gut the Dept of education, “top to bottom”. He proposed eliminating the DOE, the NEA and the NEH. And cut the EPA and OSHA by 50%. That is in addition to freezing all non military spending.

“By being more pro-life, far more pro-sovereignty, pro-gun pro-constitution, and conservative than Rudy McRombee.”

DENNIS KUCINICH WANTED HIM AS A RUNNING MATE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

Even if you dont like Rudy, comparing him to that nutcase is absurd.

Come on pissant you are smarter than that. I usually love your posts. But Come Man there is no comparison whatsoever.

Do you really think that even with Rudy’s Liberal Social positions, that Ron Paul and Rudy can be put in same ballpark?

Good point, and well put.

We have to be very careful here. We're discussing the seedy underbelly of human existence. The last thing we should want to have happen is the implication that through his Republicanism, any individual's penchant for racism or antisemitism lends credence to Republican acceptance.

There are two schools of thought on Ron Paul. That's fine. As far as I'm concerned, that's what forums like this are for. But never should we allow our disagreements to inflict damage on Republicanism or the Republican Party. The purpose of this thread is to bring up how Ron Paul himself 'may' have done such damage. Regardless of whether true or not, we should not add to that.

Fred has also said the same thing on the DOE, in one of the last debates he was asked what three departments he would eliminate and his response was something like “why just three, can’t we get rid of them all?”

Lest we forget, he also proposed eliminating the BATF.

Soros supports his friends, Guliani, Romney, Thompson Huckabee and McMainiac.

All in the club together.

Like Paul, Hunter fought the WTO and NAFTA, on multiple grounds, not the least of which was the surrendering of our sovereignty to international bureaucrats. He vows to gut those agreement.

In addition, Hunter gave the best answer to the Des Moines register when it asked about the footprint he wanted to leave as president. He said this:

“I’d like to see a country where the day I walk out of the White House, after a couple of terms, the American people are more independent of government than the day that I walked in.”

Regardless of what Kucinich says, if you are pro-life, pro-gun, pro-constitution, anti-tax, pro-sovereignty, then you are at least a libertarian conservative. That is what Paul is.

I would no more vote for Rudy than I would Paul....or Huck or McCain.

We're discussing the seedy underbelly of human existence.

You might be, or at least want it to appear that we are. I'm discussing the difference between being a Republican (partisan politics) and being a republican (political philosophy).

"principled?

Is it principled to insert earmarks in a bill you know is going to pass then vote against it to say your anti-earmark? Ron Paul wouldn't know principals if they bit him in his skinny white butt!

Unlike you, I’d like to see Run Paul go back to where he belongs with respect to party affiliation. He is not a Repub, and I do not hold with someone using the Repub party for their own political agenda (obtaining greater name recognition and then launching a turd party run for POTUS).

Paul said several times he is staying in the GOP. If he jumps and runs libertarian....again, then I will concur with your judgement. All I can say is if more people voted Pauls way on domestic issues, this country would be better off.
