It's all about perception though. Mitt spent a lot of $$ in IA and NH. He was expecting to win both states. If he looses NH he most likely would lose MI and then going into SC the media spin would be that he's finished.

Romney can’t win in NH? He needs to drop out of the race.! McCain took the independent vote from Obama.

Mitt has proven the ealry strategy (only chicoe he had really) didn’t work. He needed one of these two. The game now favors the two late strategy players, Fred and Rudy.
