I’ve been reading Sowell’s book “Basic Economics” over the past few weeks and if you haven’t done so yet, I would suggest picking it up. Much of what Sowell explains is sort “oh, duh, how did I not see that all these years?” but if there’s a such thing as an indispensibe (sp) book, this is probably it.
Anyway, thought I’d pass that along.

Thanks! I’ve seen others mention “Basic Economics” and say it’s a must read, I’m going to read it.

His “Applied Economics” is also very excellent. I still need to read “Basic” though.

I haven’t read that one yet but did read ‘Black rednecks and White liberals’. Excellent book!

I got that book and was totally disappointed, not by the content but by the utter lack of proofreading. It looked like a very first assembly done by a public school grad new apprentice with many typos and misplaced sentences and half sentences on every page. I have difficulty reading a book with a lot of typos and this one was quite impossible. I hope I got a pre-first edition and that the real First Edition was proofread. Sowell is probably the best economist in the business but I will never know it from that book. The only reason I ever took the local newspaper was the inclusion of his column. When that was dropped I dropped my subscription.
