Well right here Rush is participating in identity politics. Huckabee suits my values more than Fred. I resent him making this about evangelicals. I pick Hunter #1. But Huckabee will be my choice if Hunter drops out. I choose him based on his POLITICAL positions, not his faith. So Rush can just lose the evangelical remarks. He should make his appeal to all voters equally and stop stereotyping one group of voters. We aren’t stupid. We can figure out our values and who matches them best without his help.

Apparently not.

Which Huckabee political positions are those. The ones now or the ones when he was governor?

Rush is in a tough spot. All of the movement conservatives, William F. Buckley, Paul Weyrich and David Keene have endorsed Willard. The conservative leaders chose expediency over principle. But, we are not like certain constituencies in the Democrat Party. We are not sheep.

What Evangelicals seem to be missing or ignoring here is that the Huck is a socialist nanny stater. That philosophy doesn't jive with the Christian principles and values I'm familiar with.

I would vote for Huckabee in a general election BUT the primaries are the place to investigate a person’s record and his stands on issues. If anyone reads what Fred writes (he is a substance candidate) or listens to what he says, he is a solid conservative. Huckabee is a social conservative (good) but after reading his Foreign Affairs article, he’s as bad as Obama and Clinton...truly, he should have NOT written that piece until he had a better grasp of the positions. He was fully on board with McCain on the immigration issue. To beat Obama or Clinton, we need someone who is outside the Washington circle (several Republicans fit the bill) AND has the experience and ability to articulate their positions well. Huckabee is a good talker, but has not been good about specifics at ALL.

Wow, that’s a leap. Explain to me what Duncan Hunter and the Huckster have in common!

Evidently some seem to be stupid, going for a Dem in Republican clothes. The real difference between Huck and the Dem candidates is that he is against abortion. We sure need a liberal republican trying to beat a Dem in the general. It will be a slaughterhouse! Keep firing Rush! Seems like you have hit a nerve among the Huckleberry camp!
