TALK OF HILLARY EXIT ENGULFS CAMPAIGNS Mon Jan 07 2008 09:46:28 ET

Facing a double-digit defeat in New Hampshire, a sudden collapse in national polls and an expected fund-raising drought, Senator Hillary Clinton is preparing for a tough decision: Does she get out of the race? And when?!

"She can't take multiple double-digit losses in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada," laments one top campaign insider. "If she gets too badly embarrassed, it will really harm her. She doesn't want the Clinton brand to be damaged with back-to-back-to-back defeats."

Meanwhile, Democrat hopeful John Edwards has confided to senior staff that he is staying in the race because Hillary "could soon be out."

Key players in Clinton's inner circle are said to be split. James Carville is urging her to fight it out through at least February and Super Tuesday, where she has a shot at thwarting Barack Obama in a big state. But others close to the former first lady now see no possible road to victory, sources claim.

"Seeing Mike Huckabee’s rise and his win in Iowa, can do that to a person."

Compared to what alternative? Romney, the second place finisher in Iowa?

Romney, the tax raising, pro-abortion (at least if you have $50), so-called "conservative".

What, Fred "I voted for McCain-Feingold" Thompson? Fred "I voted to acquit William Jefferson Clinton" Thompson?

Rush, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager or whoever else can say what they will about any of the candidates, but when they call Mitt or Fred conservatives, they are holding candidates to double standards.

All of the top five candidates have questionable conservative records.

Those in glass houses ...

... unless you have willing shills on talk radio.

I disagree. Here is why. Hillary is thee most unelectible demo-turd to walk the planet since the Reagan machine pounded the peanut into peanut butter.

I would love for her to get the nomination. Half her base thinks she is too conservative, half her base thinks she's too liberal, women hate her, the BGR would come out of the woodwork to vote against her and the youth would rebel against her for beating Oblahblah.

The only GOP candidate that would lose to her would be Wrong Paul, since I'd vote for her before I'd vote for him. JMO.

They will triangulated.

Just as Bill used Ross P. to get elected, you can be sure that they are planning some trick to get her elected.

They only need to keep the regular D votes and distract ours.

“James Carville is urging her to fight it out through at least February and Super Tuesday,”

These are indeed hard times for the Clinton Co-dependents. A lot of their prestige comes from the fact that they work, or worked, for the Clintons. Without Bill and Hillary, Carville is in danger of becoming Jody Powell.

“She is not going anywhere.”

That could be true on more than one level.

“So much speculation, so few named sources.”

I suspect Carville was one of the sources for the story. Which makes me wonder what the Clintonistas are doing.

Sorry Pikachu, I couldn't get past that. It reminded me too much of AYBABTU. I actually LOL'd. :o)

Now, your comment has merit, they could pull a Ross P. and I think his name is going to be Bloomberg.

Obama would be a total idiot if he let’s Hillary on the ticket.

Especially if he doesn't realize he would be in danger of being FOSTERIZED!

Hillary won't "get out". She's in for the long haul.

I don't believe she will voluntarily want to pull out of the race. But if her campaign team starts falling apart? The signs will be there if the campaign disintegrates around her.

The only ones left might be her old pals like Car-VILE and Blumenthal and her new-ish gal pal (i.e. "Senior advisor"), Huma.

I heard some guy predict that she would pull herself out of the race and state it was for health reasons.

Perhaps a face lift or Botox treatment gone really bad?!

And when she trots out Maddie Albright on stage in Iowa to be-bop to whatever the latest campaign song is. That’s just wrong.

Yeah, I was howling in fits of laughter when I saw that myself.

If the latter happens, count on the man who got elected being dead sometime between the election and Inauguration Day.

Nah. That would cause too much suspicion.

The "event" would take place AFTER the swearing in and the M.O. would be yet another WH carpet rolled up and stuck in the trunk of a trusted friend.

America could certainly be ready for a black President, just not one with ‘Bamas heritage background and ideology.

Hillary is going to be slinging a lot of blame around, and it isn’t going to be pretty.

Quick! Hide the ashtrays!

RUSH: What is this about Mrs. Clinton dropping out...the only way she’s leaving this race is in a straight jacket!

Like Muskie, perhaps? ;-)
