“Fred eschews the Beauty Contest, and that is refreshing.”

With all due respect, he doesn’t have much choice in that decision.

Point of fact: There is no Dem who will vote for anyone who even hints of tweaking Social Security — and the fact is, no Republican can win the presidency without a good deal of Dem crossover votes.

Oh, voters will vote for someone who will fix Social Security eventually. Whether they do so before or after the reality of this country's bankruptcy lands in their faces is up to them.

If no one steps up and provides leadership on this matter, then it will be after, and too late for any of us. If Fred was the sort who would mortgage our country's future in exchange for votes, then he wouldn't have my support.

If that means addressing the issues means losing elections, then it doesn't matter who we vote for, since we're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic anyway.

Yeah, and they always said a Republican could NEVER win in a large turnout too....:/

Conventional wisdom doesn’t hold water anymore as Fred found out in Iowa.
