Still think Ron Paul was behind this?

“Fred Head here at FR immediately take it as gospel that it originated with the Romney campaign.”

Well, lying is in character for Mitt Romney.

Mary Matalin was just on MSNBC with Norah O’Donnell- categorically and emphatically denying the entire idea.

The last I heard CNN hadn’t gotten the memo- they were still pushing the rumor an hour ago.

It kills me that Romney is the victim of a shady political tactic and gets accused of doing it to himself. Then another candidate gets attacked in the same way and it’s still Romney’s fault.

Romney does have the most to gain from Thompson folding. He would most likely pick up the bulk of Thompson's support (assuming Hunter is gone by then). If it's McCain, Romney, Giuliani and Huckster, I'm guessing the bulk of Thompson votes go to Romney. Which would be huge. No, it's not proof, but he seems to stand the gain the most from the rumor.

You’re upset. I’m sorry.
But, given what I’ve read elsewhere today, FRed is a threat to Mitt in Iowa. Whether it was Mitt or his campaign crew, the buck stops with Mitt. (That’s true for any candidate.)

If this proves to be true, I will have to re-think Romney as my second choice.

“Who is the only Rep candidate running negative ads?”

Who is the only Rep candidate not not running negative ads?

The Huckster.

I heard her unequivocally state last night on the Fox panel that her husband is working for the Romney campaign.

In Iowa, I saw one from Huck this morning aimed at Mitt.

I, for one, refuse to believe that a bastion of integrity such as this Baptist Reverend Michael Huckabee would do such a thing. He is as pure as the driven snow.

See. They’re still, STILL, talking about —— FRED!

That’s great for him.

Huckabee or Paul didn’t do it. Medved and Hewitt did it.

Mary’s denial isn’t definitive for me. Honestly, what else can she say that will leave FRed on high ground? Mary’s denial doesn’t absolve the Romney campaign.

That’s new then. I hope he does run them.

Wow. No link to the story. No evidence beyond a suggestion and you didn’t even get the ID of the person who made the suggestion correct. This is nothing more than a rumor and yet this thread is being held out as PROOF that the Romney campaign is guilty of dirty tricks.

Fred knew it was one of the other campaigns. I used to think only Huck was the big liar in the bunch. Now I see there are two frontrunning lying b@stards up there, who have a whole lot of good Republicans fooled.

Time to really think about your candidate, people. Has he changed his positions more frequently than his hairstyles? Has he been caught in several untruths that you chose to forgive? Is he tricky and clever? Does he want the Presidency so badly that he will raise his hand to a lesbian liberal newspaper editor like a small boy in shorts who has to tinkle? THINK. We are talking about a serious job here. Leader of the Free World.

“So, Mitt feels threatened by FRed.... Stick it to ‘im, FRed.”

Actually, Mitt’s spokesman said he didn’t know he was in the race. Hardly sounds threatened.
