I thought the time was right to start up a live thread for results and comments about tonight, so here we are!
FR is slowing down, just watched the 10 o'clock news local & switched to Des Moines.
Of all the candidates, I personally thought Obama had the most charisma. I don't hold his race (he's running as a black but he is bi-racial) against him at all, it is what he stands for that I would never support him personally. Agreed that his race would be a sad reason to lose, but I was just passing on a take from someone in a southern state who tracks things, a much more liberal Republican than I.
Now the numbers are flying fast and furiously. Obama is the big winner in Iowa, guess that means he scored the majority of total votes. Nationally they are still showing Hillary ahead. Not sure how that will play out or if it's media hype.
Here are some more numbers on the turnout, think they are probably for my county. 218,000 Democrats, 184,000 Republicans. Huge turnout especially in the cold and snow, roads pretty good. We are in a blue area, disappointing but no big surprise.
The Republicans had a terrific turnout, no shovels for us, remember I see my part of the state as a blue area. SRO in one place and lots of new registrants. The county chairman is very pleased. So let's hope it keeps up!
The big surprise to me are the huge numbers throughout the state for Obama, no surprise locally. These are largely white votes and a lot of the women they were expecting to go for Hillary.
Republicans and Democrats alike got schools for polling places, don't know why my two precincts the Republicans had to share a supermarket dining hall. The Dems got the school for the same two precincts.
From my POV.
Apparently the sever is secure.
And yes, Fred is the best overall candidate
OK, I'm no Huckabee fan, but this is ridiculous. His son is a grown adult. Adults shouldn't have thier parents "allowing" anything.
I really hope Fred stays in for the long haul, even if it appears bleak. There is a sliver of hope, that as the other candidates slug it out, he will get noticed. Romney may be going down rapidly, McCain is broke, Huckabee may sink... Between Rudy and Fred, Fred is obviously the clear conservative choice.
Apparently the sever is secure.
And yes, Fred is the best overall candidate
I resemble that remark!
That's not necessarily a good thing, though.
Uh...you think I haven’t heard ALL of Reagan’s speeches? Why I even heard the speeches of FDR. I was not referencing the content of the speech, I was commenting on the ability to “stir” a crowd to a frenzy, sort of like Hitler. Makes him dangerous, as someone has already commented.
Uhh.. not one thing in that post made any sense to me.
That was a straw poll by a small faction within the Arkansas GOP. It has little relevance to the primary.

And how much did he spend there versus Fred and McVain?
Jay Leno just said that Fred Thompson is doing so bad, it’s like he’s back here at NBC
“You sound like Peggy Noonan. “He would be much harder than Hillary to beat..” This is an example. I think it is good to write authoritatively. I doubt that you really know any of the statements that you make.”
The statement is not only factual, it’s obvious. Hillary started out with half the nation against her. If nominated, Obama is almost certain to win the presidency. This can’t be said of Hillary.
Gore said: "Out of one, many". He got it exactly wrong, as have most Democrats, as usual.
PS: One of the best episodes. One of my favorites.
-—Yep, now we have two preachers.-—
We are in a heap of trouble as Republicans. Of course I’m disappointed by Romney’s showing, and yes, it’s easy to trace a downward trajectory going forward in NY, Michigan, and SC.
The real stunner though is the enthusiasm and numbers of the Democrats. They look a lot like the Reaganites of not too long ago. I don’t think this is just a Iowa fluke.
Sent Fred my 25$.
From your lips to God’s ears. The Beast has spent a lot of money and twisted a lot of arms over the last 7 years. At this point all we can hope is that those people break their promises to her and switch to Obama, because they are very worried the PIAPS will lose in 2008... She had 5,000 people lined up today to provide rides to any of her supporters who needed them.. They have a lead in NH and have spent tons of money in the Super Tuesday states.
Obama has only 5 days to catch her in NH. If he somehow does it, that will spell trouble for the bitch. But she will not throw in the towel until she has lost all hope.
Obama get ready for the dirt to start flying, the hag has worked her whole life for this chance, looked the other way for over 30 years while her husband savaged their wedding vows, played second fiddle to the Rapist all this time, just for a chance to have her moment in the sun. All the fights, the screaming matches, all the embarrassments - she’s put up with it all because of the attention she received and her chance to win the big prize...
They have used detectives and all kinds of thugs over the years to intimidate, beat up and even eliminated opponents. They will not go down without the meanest and ugliest fight in political history.
They have assembled the biggest political machine in the nation’s history, have tens of millions of dollars and they own the MSM.
She is though, a wretched, odious human being, who has no charisma and no real talent to inspire anyone. If Obama can charm enough people, all she has set up for herself may not be enough.
We can only pray that somehow she is defeated and the democraps offer the American people someone else.
