Mandarin Man Shocked To Find His Address Listed For Sex Offender

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man whose address was mistakenly listed as that of a sexual offender is worried that it could hurt his family and that the same thing could happen to others.

Claudio DiGregorio and his family live what he calls a normal life in a quiet Mandarin neighborhood. He was startled when he discovered his street number listed on a state Web site as the residence of a man was recently released from prison on a conviction of lewd and lascivious battery child under 15.

"My first impulse is that I was angry," DiGregorio said. "I was angry, I was shocked."

DiGregorio said things got worse when he got a mailing from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement asking sex offenders to verify their address.

"My son (is) happy in the community where I raise him, without dealing with something like this," DiGregorio told Channel 4's Vickie Pierre. "This right here blows my mind to no end."

DiGregorio said he contacted the FDLE, but is still waiting for them to remove his address. Channel 4 contacted both the FDLE and the Florida Department of Corrections, but no one was available because of the holiday.

"Your reputation and your character itself is very important," DiGregorio said. "To me, that's the backbone of what this world is about."

"If someone uses my address to get out of prison and no one does a follow-up, I believe it could happen to anyone," DiGregorio said.

Interesting post. Perhaps pedophiles just released from prison should have chip implants that can be traced by satellites. That way they can’t hide from authorities by using someone else’s address, as happened to this poor fellow in Florida.

If a sexual offender moves out and a new resident moves in, is the old address removed from the registry? I bet it’s not. If not, then eventually every address could be on the registry.......

Reminds me of the time the Welsh community burned down the house of the new pediatrician in town...

I had somethinf similar happen to me several years ago. I had to hire a lawyer at my expense to clear up the county records so I would not lose my job.

Camel. Nose. Tent.

First they came with “the chip”, for the sex offenders.

I didn’t object because, I wasn’t a sex offender...

The problem is that the correctional system is too slow to react to their own system faults. They should have verified the address in the first place. When the mistake was made, they should have issued an arrest warrant for the pedophile and got him to clarify the matter.

If it happened to me, I’d call every TV station until the governor was embarassd.

Who should pay for all of that, the state or fed?

Unfortunately you underestimate the state’s unwillingness to admit to mistakes. Sending an undercover detective or fixer to place some kiddie porn and some crack cocaine in the guy’s house when he’s not at home will correct the problem.

More proof that Megan’s Law in its current form is worse than useless. Change the law so that we can keep the sex offenders in prison where they belong and this won’t be a problem anymore.

The same thing happened here in Texas a few months ago. The REAL sex offender had moved and the new homeowner found his address listed.

Another guy had his name on the list because he was seen taking a leak from his fishing boat. A lady with her kids on the bank saw him, got the TX boat number and turned him in. He is still on the list.

“If a sexual offender moves out and a new resident moves in, is the old address removed from the registry?”

It’s the perv’s “responsibility” to notify the State of any address change.

Sex offender registries are a joke. You've got violent serial rapists and pedophiles sharing the lists with guys who got busted soliciting prostitutes and 18 year-old high school seniors who got caught screwing their 16 year old sophmore girlfriends.

I've had three different street addresses in the 10 years I've lived in this house.

In order to implement or upgrade the 911 system the town has renumbered street addresses and changed street names twice since we moved here.

Now it hasn't put me on the sex offender registry, really hasn't caused a problem other than with UPS and needing new address labels, but it has resulted in one curious consequence.

My neighbor, the crazy Quaker cat lady, has our old street address and we have her old street address.

Somehow, her name and my name got on the Hillary Clinton For President mailing list and combined. Now I receive all this campaign stuff from Hillary, addressed to my neighbor and me, delivered to my street address.

I presume, and I hope, that the crazy Quaker cat lady next door is wondering why she's receiving urgent requests from Wayne LaPierre asking that she send money quick to fight the gun grabbers.

They should at least be studied to determine how to cure or prevent this sickness. If they are released it should be into the waiting arms of family members. Victim’s family members. Im sorry that the justice department sicko who flew after a 5 year old was allowed to kill himself when he might have been waterboarded for information about his prior experiences and compatriots, clearly he was filled with interesting facts... Strange how many of these pedophiles can be found in churches and schools. I wouldnt think it would be too hard to find or discourage them.
