POLL: Clinton, McCain lead in New Hampshire
MSNBC ^ | January 1, 2008 | Domenico Montanaro

With exactly a week to go until New Hampshire, McCain has pulled ahead of Romney and Clinton has opened back up a double-digit lead in New Hampshire, according to a 7News/Suffolk University poll. McCain gained 12 points since a month ago in the same survey to vault ahead of Romney 31%-25%. Romney had led in the December Suffolk poll 31%-19% over McCain. Giuliani is third with 14%, a three-point drop from 17%. A month ago, Clinton led Obama by 7 points (33%-26%), but now the poll shows her with a whopping 36%-22% lead. Apparently, Clinton has peeled away some of those undecideds from a month ago as that number dropped from 19% to just 12% this month. Edwards comes in third with 14%. (He had 15% in December.) The Republican numbers: McCain 31%, Romney 25%, Giuliani 14%, Huckabee 9%. The Democratic numbers: Clinton 36%, Obama 22%, Edwards 14%.

I have a strong stomach, but I think I would throw up if I punched John McCain.

Don’t worry, I’ll never sit out. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that. :-) I remain optimistic.

If McCain wasn’t so much for amnesty, then I would be willing to accept him as president (no matter how many other flaws he has). But he is just so arrogantly out of touch on that issue.

If he was not for amnesty, he would have been the Republican front-runner all along.

When it comes to lying and hypocrisy McCain gives the Clintons stiff competition.

It may be starting to seep in that at least for the GOP, what the good people of Iowa and New Hampshire have to say means absolutely nothing.

Given appropriate sampling techniques, for a small state like New Hampshire polls, that number of people can be reasonably accurate.

The final results are likely to be fairly close to the average of all of the last polls for NH.

“This is good news in my opinion. It Fred Thompson cannot stay in, I would much rather see McCain go up against Guiliani on Super Tuesday than Romney.”

1. Can you explain this?

2. What makes you think Romney wouldn’t be going up against Rudy on Super Tuesday?

“Agree. Let’s face it, relatively speaking McCain is preferable to Romney, Huck or Giuliani.”

You should be aware though that McCain will probably pick someone like Huckabee as his running mate to shore up the values base. Notice how John and Mike as saying nice things about each other; it has to be more than having a common enemy in Romney.

My Grandma (Rest her soul) always told me, “Honey - once a liar, always a liar. And, they always trip up. They forget what lies they told, and to who. Remember that. “

I did. My Grandma knew the types of Clinton and McCain, many years ago.

“I’d love to see Hill try to smear a certified war hero.”

Dole lost in 96.

Bush in 92.

Let’s face it, relatively speaking McCain is preferable to Romney, Huck or Giuliani.

In my opinion, Giuliani is more likely to hold the line on taxes and to appoint conservative judges and less likely to support amnesty than McCain. McCain repeatedly calls himself "bi-partisan." I cringe when he says that.

They both hate the GOP so that wouldn’t suprise me.

Rudy turned NYC around.

McCain is a turncoat.

Your Grandma was right, yorkie. Those types have always been around. Politics and power draw them like flies. If McCain is really forgetting what he said last summer then perhaps he’s getting Alzheimer’s. But I expect it’s worse than that. In his cynicism he’s counting on the electorate having ADD. He may be right but it’s cynical just the same.

What I think this says is that people are still worried about the security of our country and national defense, despite all the MSM’s propaganda to the contrary.

Hildabeast is wretched, but to most people she probably looks like a likelier defender of the country in a cruel world than those prettyboys Edmunds and Obama. Better a wicked witch with a punch than a couple of effete leftists, is probably what they are thinking.

And McCain is widely called a “war hero,” although people who have looked more closely might dispute that. In other words, these two are floating to the top because nobody trusts Huckabee, Romney, Obama, or Edwards to defend us against threats.

It’s delusional thinking, but the media is managing to cover up the guys who might really defend us: Thompson and Hunter.
