The clarity and accuracy of these statements disturbs the very foundation of extreme liberals. Moonbattery had a nice summary.

After calling him a propagandist, a bully and a thug, Pollitt gives vent to her outrage with a list of unobjectionable opinions that she imputes to Kristol in a tone better suited to accusations of witchcraft. These include:

According to Pollitt, these mild views are so outrageous, they disqualify Kristol even for the intended role of conservative foil on a liberal editorial page. The "fair and balanced" concept hasn't gotten much traction at the Nation.

Post 68 liberals versus pre 68 liberals, almost biblical but certainly very funny.

Another reason not to read the NYT.

I could do without Kristol. He’s not a real conservative.

Not a big fan of Bill Kristol, but it’s nice to see how worked up this is making wackos like this woman.

This is the man who blamed american liberals for the Khmer Rouge and the Ayatollah Khomeini
And he was certainly correct in that.

I wish Kristol was as conservative as she thinks he is.

Still, he’s better than nothing.

The MSM grasps for straws as it sinks into the quicksand of its own mendacity. Bye bye.

That's Bill Kristol ,Fox commentator , editor of the the Murdochian agitprop factory Weekly Standard, George W. Bush's propagandist in chief, co-founder of the Project for a New American Century, relentless promoter of the war in Iraq , ideological bully and thug.

Katha really had to stroke her thesaurus to come up with that line.

What this hire demonstrates is how successfully the right has intimidated the mainstream media. Their constant demonizing of the New York Times as the tool of the liberal elite worked. (Maybe it also demonstrates that the people in charge of the decision aren't so liberal.)

I think it demonstrates that someone looked at a graph of the Times' annual circulation figures and saw it plunging into bankruptcy unless they change their ways.

Sam Tanenhaus is an anti-Communist moderate. Bill Kristol is a neocon (actually as a Kristol, he is a member of one of the two main neocon families).
There are still no serious conservatives who would upset the Boston, NY, DC axis.
