“Theocracies are the cruelest form of government.” Sad and ironic isn’t it?

No; incorrect is what it is.

‘This will trigger more terror’ 27/12/2007 16:29 - (SA)

Pakistan has a nuclear arsenal. About 50% of Pakistanis are militant pro-Al-Qaida Muslims. (the Taliban was created by the Pakistani goverments ISI, and Pakistan still remains a safe-house for Al Qaida)

Pakistan is a greater nuclear threat to the West than Iran.

This is why the US has supported "nasty" but pro-West dictators. And why the US has an agreement to militarily defend the non-radical Pakistani governments. The US quietly increased the number of military bases from 1 to 3 since the 2nd Iraq war.

The US absolutely has plans to forcibly seize all known nuclear assets in Pakistan should they begin to fall under militant Islamic control.

Ijaz runs hot and cold.

He paid his way deep into the Clinton Administration, personally opened the doors to Sudan intel while Bin Laden was still in country, and then got froze out when Clinton wanted no part of Sudan’s help. That time around, Ijaz had the right idea. AQ could have been stopped before they ever really got going.

He floated some very flaky predictions around the time of OIF, and looked the fool when none came true.

Bottom line, he has big bucks, some political access here in the US, and a wide variety of personal relationships around the fringes of terrorist Islam.

His standalone word has zero credibility, but if his statements fit in with other datapoints, he counts as additional corroboration.

I think you said “ignorant” twice...not a good way to get your point across.

Well, guess my predictions from a year ago just bombed. I was right regarding the Turkish involvement with the radical Kurds, the surge would work if given the chance( Babylon to be rebuilt??) but wrong on a LOT( this is just a fun hobby and I use the Bible eschatology as my foundation) but I thought Mushareff would get pink misted if our spec ops dropped their 24/7 guard.

Of course now I wonder if the guy shed his uniform and those still patriotic to him did the deed...hey, his hands are allegedly clean and he "showed" the world he was turning in the uniform....trying to "predict" what is going to happen in that part of the world is a crap shoot at best. Musharref had a successful coup and now i wonder if he was successful in eliminating his opponent altogether, too early to know. Now to see which Muslim sect( lesser of two evils??) Bush will back...never mind we'll never get any closer to Ben Laden now that this has happened, but I hope I'm wrong in this...heck, what a scary mess, who has the keys to the nukes??

We in the U.S. tend to connect AQ to every terrorist attack, and it just is not accurate. The radicals are associated with dozens of organizations now, and AQ is probably the least effective these days. There are dozens more wannabees of every size, down to groups as small as 5 or six to the Taliban and the big Iranian groups. I prefer to simply call them religious conservative extremists, and they are salted throughout the entire middle East, Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe and even the U.S.. I use the term conservative, because that is what they are politically.

There is not much point in trying to label them individually as parts of groups because they change their names frequently.

I doubt AQ had anything to do with this but the idiots who did, may or may not have indentified with them or supported their ideals even though they may have been of a different religious sect or may even have been non practicing agnostics, so it does not really matter what we call them. They are all dangerous and need to be eliminated.

Best way to do that is to give them a nice juicy target, let them coalesce and then take them all down.

It's the only way as I see it.

The founding fathers had a great template for this Nation, one which provides for rule of man-mde law and yet was divinely inspired, leaving freedom of choice as God intends.

As for prophecy and how that is fulfilled, that is out of my realm.

Bump.

Yes, it is the starting point.

Another one, as the last was.

If this is another exploding camera, there will be not doubts in my mind.

"Mansoor has been mostly wrong on everything, and I don't put much stock in his opinions anylonger."

True. Unless he's a LOT better on Pak than the rest of his proclamations about ME, he'll be wrong again and hardly a source worth listening to, although I admit that I also put stock in what he said at one time until he proved himself out-of-it over and over again.

But, how convenient for Mush.

Gee, here I thought Al Qaeda claimed responsibility.

I want to strengthen something I touched on earlier.

Until, Al Qaeda is definitively proven to have no involvement in the Bhutto assassination, my personal terror alert level goes to “Orange”, and will stay there at least a week.

YMMV.

good analysis.

given the most obvious primary concern from our point of view is security of the nukes, how do you think the Indians are going to play this if they even get a whiff that Paki nuke security is in question.

It makes sense that we view this thru the lense of the WOT, however, i think it is equally important to give this a look from the view point of Paki-India relations
