There has been such a plan for years. It was in the press recently that we had a plan which caused a Russian backlash.

From http://pakistanidefenceforum.com//index.php?showtopic=72245&st=240 :

The country will be on fire which has already been started. A Police Station just nearby my Office has been put on fire besides a gas station was also burnt while vehicles are smashed by PPP protesters.

All roads in Peshawar are blocked we are in a big mess and there is no protection no guarntee whether we will be back alive home or not.Banks are looted in many areas.

While Lahore , Karachi and Rawalpindi is also on fire.

My request to Countrymen here kindly put aside your personal frustration and instead of blaming one person for everything that happens here in Pakistan try to counter Anti-Pakistan propogands at this time.

I realize that I am very much a hawk and pre-emptive strike person -- but if I were in charge at the Pentagon I would have people putting together a plan right now to insert Special forces troops to take security control and protection of the Pakistani Nuclear stores and facilities.

If our people at the Pentagon are on the ball, that plan would have long since been completed.

Good point- I’m also thinking about Afghanistan. Karzai just met with Bhutto this week..

Also- as a precursor- I keep thinking of the great Afghan Massoud- his assassination on 9/9/01..

In one act, Al Qaeda took out the leading democratic candidate (Bhutto) and rendered the leading military candidate (Mushariff) impotent.

Exactly!! While Mushariff may have eased off on the security for Bhutto, that was a bad decision for him. She had 60 % support and was the hope of moderates (also known as "targets" in Muslim countries). There is little or no downside for AQ in this. To the contrary, this could become the biggest single moment for AQ since 9/11.

Thanks, I’m cube bound right now and don’t have access to TV. Are you hearing anything about a possible connection to the shots fired at Narwaz Sharif earlier today?

No Official Suspect Behind Bhutto's Assassination

From the link...

Among the first to arrive at the hospital was Nawaz Sharif, a former prime minister and a fellow opposition leader. He sat silently next to Bhutto's mangled body.

lol. My first thought when I saw the headlines is how foaming at the mouth the Paulistas are going to be that his announcement that he's going to run independently as a candidate for the Constitution Party, is gonna get stomped on.

Be safe.

People are pretty angry over there—it will go into the streets. A political opponent of BB is being interviewed right now, Sharif Nawaz. States that it is a bad day, that he himself had violence visited on his own campaign, with four people dead yesterday. he is giving her accolades.

Vehicles are burning in Rawalpindi, clashes are starting in Lahore, as well as other cities. People are taking to the streets, angry. The supporters of Bhutto are blaming the government. There were some explosions heard just now in Rawalpindi. Who knows what is going on. It is tense, and it could spread. Keep watching!!!

My adopted family from Pakistan just called. I could hear the tightness and concern in my brothers voice. He talked about roving crowds of people burning tires in the street and doesn't know if it will be safe to travel in to work in the morning nor what direction his country is heading over the next few hours and days, peace and stability wise. Prayers are requested. Especially for the Christian minority of Pakistan who daily face threat and persecution and will be even more vulnerable during this time of crisis.

MY prayers to you and your family for safety during this horrible time. I just talked to my wife who is a nurse at a hospital here in Montgomery. She said that a couple of the doctors are a total mess today, and one broke down in tears and had to get another doc to take over his procedures this morning.
