BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Are Idaho police academy graduates trying to cause Posttraumatic Stress Disorder?
That's the message on the latest class's graduation programs, and it's got leaders of the Idaho Police Officer Standards and Training Academy doing damage control.
The program read, "Don't suffer from PTSD, go out and cause it."
Jeff Black, who heads up the academy in Meridian, Idaho, where the latest class graduated December 14th, says, "That's not something we encourage or condone. We were mortified it was in there."
Apparently, each academy class chooses its own slogan. This is the one that the latest class of 43 officers wanted - before returning to 19 police agencies around the state to start their jobs.
PTSD is an anxiety disorder, common after violent attacks or war.
Black says, "Our class president was ex-military. It slipped in."
Oh, chill. Some people have no sense of humor.
Oh the horror!! exactly. Get OVER it. It’s just military humor.
And some people have never faced a real live clint eastwood wannabe on a traffic stop.
life ceases to be a game at some point, for some people.
I guess I’ve mastered the art of smiling sweetly and acting penitent, so Rambos melt in my pretty hands.
For every crappy cop, there are 100 crappy civilians. I don't mind a few cops causing some of them some PTSD...
I agree.
Sick - but damned funny!
What a bunch of PC Pantiewaists.
Perhaps we should be testing the nation’s police forces for steroid abuse.
It is the same superiority complex that causes every cop to assume you are guilty of “something”, that you should never carry a gun yourself, and that the first words out of any civilian’s mouth are always a lie.
“life ceases to be a game at some point, for some people.”
You know you’re a Darwin Award candidate when...
You’re too stupid to be polite and cooperative with an armed police officer.
yes, i am a cop. everyone around here knows it. while i have continually admonished officers when i thought it necessary, i have tried to stem the tide of cop-bashing around here.
earlier today, i saw a positive thread concerning the job cops perform. it got all the way up to 19 posts.
this story was posted yesterday. it got many more just like all the taser threads and the SWAT threads.
i know people around here are getting tired of me and my "boot-licking" and my "thug mentality" and my "jack-booted nazism". but i'm simply trying to defend the profession i love. the only one at which i have ever been good.
i do find it interesting that the cop who wrote the slogan is ex-military and people still bash him. i guess anti-cop beats out pro-military.
I guess we’ll lighten up when the corrupt cops are taken out of the system. I hope your still working on that. I won’t hold my breath, however. People will continue to bash as long as there are corrupt cops, and it doesn’t matter if it’s only 1 bad apple in the whole group. There is not much a single citizen can do against it.
Many of us here have problems with cops because of the havoc they have created in our lives. It takes only 1 cop to royally screw up a lot of folks lives.
I happen to pass through a trap in Las Vegas while I was on vacation. I received 2 false tickets when the cop stopped me, 1 for not having a Nevada license, 1 for not having Nevada plates. Well, no sh*t idiot; I live in Dallas. Cop didn’t want to here it. The cop was looking for anything he could use to ticket me. That’s it, whole story. What’s the excuse for this kind of thing? I have my license, my insurance, etc. Didn’t want to here anything out of me. And the ‘having a bad day’ BS doesn’t fly.
Now I’m having to fight this stupidity with money and time. Laywer wants me to give in obviously so he doesn’t have to spend the time putting up a defense. Hearing is in beginning of April. So, I have to wait seven months between when I get a false ticket and when I get a hearing. Don’t tell me the courts are jammed, because I’ll just tell you there jammed with this kind of BS.
And, today, well, well, well. I’m sitting at a rest stop away from other cars in the car with my wife in the back seat feeding the baby when a cop pulls up behind me to see what I’m doing. He’s actually looking at my wife in the window as my wife is breast-feeding. Don’t tell me he had any valid reason to pull up to me and start looking in my windows. I said what the f**k are you doing directly to him, and he said, ‘Oh, so sorry.’ and drove away.
and, theFactor, don’t bother with me either. I’m also military. i dont see any humor or reason for this stupid humor.
Probably the same superiority complex that assumes "every cop" does anything whatsoever.
One of the eye opening experiences for me when I retired from the Army was how militarized I had become in relation to the civilan community. I had no idea until I was out in the “real world” that such a thing existed. It may be the class president is now finding the same situation confronts him. You have to adapt back to the civilian world and it isnt always easy.
I agree and have mentioned before here that there seems to be an anti law enforcement common thread that runs through a lot of these postings. Its too bad because police are the first guys we call for when trouble comes calling.
Thanks for your hard work. I appreicate our law enforcement professionals who work hard, do a great job and never get thanked. Well, thank you.
and did the cop give you a speeding ticket? if not, you should be thankful. those cost a lot more.
i wasn't there so i cannot comment. but i can say to general things with regard to tickets: if our bosses give us a quota, you'd better hit it. and people who give attitude during a car-stop usually talk themselves right into a ticket. you've already admitted that you swore to a cops face in one instance. so you'll forgive me if i think you might have been less than courteous after being caught speeding.
Ditto that. I recently retired and temporarily working in the corporate world. Watching site managers handle their people makes me shake my head at times, but I just watch and learn.
By the way, I thought their slogan was funny too. Guess they should have kept it as an inside joke since the pc weenies are so thin skinned.
Yes there's dirty cops, and one aw sh1t wipes out 100 atta boys. But treat all police with courtesy and more often they respond in kind. Thanks for your service Factor
