“The question I asked few weeks ago is what will Free Republic do if Fred Thompson is not the nominee?”

I saw some answers to your question some time ago. It is difficult for us up-beat Fred supporters to believe that he will not be the nominee when real conservative voters get to inspect all the records of the candidates. Why is it we hear negative comments about the “records” of all the candidates except Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter? It is because their records are of REAL CONSERVATIVES. All the negative comments made about Fred have only to do with “came in the race too late, no fire in the belly, looks tired, looks too old, and on and on. So with some, looks and appearance mean more than conservative record? I happen to LIKE the looks and appearance of Fred and LOVE his REAL CONSERVATIVISM! GO FRED! (I will vote against any Democrat, but don’t want to hold my nose while doing it!)

What do you think is the most important factor for a candidate to win the Republican nomination and the Presidency?

I couldn’t agree with you more. There are too many people trying to re-define what a conservative is. They try to pass off as conservatives Romney and McCain and Guiliani.
Real conservatives know better than that.

Politics is as much a campaign of disinformation as it is substantial policy directives.

Again I say.......GO FRED!
