Rumor circulating on the Fred08 blog that there is going to be a major "surprise" announcement coming this morning.
Perhaps an NRA endorsement or a major political figure?

FRED!! does not support the Human Life Amendment, as I recall. That does not equate to a contention he is not pro-life. HLA is a flawed litmus test. Getting 50 states on board to ratify an amendment to the constitution is a long shot at best and largely outside a president's purview. Appointing pro-life judges who would overturn Roe is solidly in a president's authority and is the fastest way from point A to point B.

Fox News is slowly joining the DBM. I think they get invited to more cocktail parties as a result.

Suggesting he is anything other than pro-life is simply inaccurate.Oh, he may be 100% "pro-life" but he obviously does not think of abortion as murder. Sometimes he thinks abortion is allowable.
Statement from Fred Thompson
Contact: Press Office, 571-730-1010; www.Fred08.com
MCLEAN, Virginia, Nov. 29 /Standard Newswire/ -- Senator Fred Thompson released the following statement tonight regarding abortion:
"In tonight's debate we saw once again that on abortion, Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice and Mitt Romney is multiple choice. I believe abortion should only be allowed in the instances of rape, incest and the life of the mother and penalties should be assessed against the abortion doctor and not the woman."

“Sometimes he thinks abortion is allowable.”
Which is thinking in line with the vast majority of Americans.

That didn’t come from the official Fred08 site that there was a “surprise” announcement. In fact, I checked some of the “big” conservative blogs that day and saw nothing about any surprise announcement. It seems it blossomed from the drive to raise $250K by 6PM tonight to buy airtime for an ad in Iowa. Someone along the line whispered “announcement”, and that was all it took. Well, it certainly got us buzzing here at FR. ;^)
Kinda like the game of “telephone”.

It’s been a week now. I’ve heard the rumors that Fred was lazy but this is getting ridiculous.
