Rumor circulating on the Fred08 blog that there is going to be a major "surprise" announcement coming this morning.

Guiliani is not a conservative but he is vastly better than any democrat nominee.”

Once more history repeats itself, are we again succumbing to the 50's rant of "Better Red Than Dead?"

We are suitably scandalized that you have slandered Myth Romney in such a manner. We are sure that your next post will be an appropriately worded apology.

It's about as good as shooting yourself in the leg, and then saying it's OK because it didn't kill you... and it makes about as much sense.

Did you have to blow the dust off that ages-old BS “stalking horse” line?

Yup. Gotta call these politicians on their mischief. Show me the evidence where Fred has attacked McCain and I'll reconsider.

Fred was gushing about McCain's foreign policy experience the other day. Besides letting himself be taken prisoner of war while his father was Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command and being one of the driving forces to ally the US with bin Laden's KLA for the purpose of killing Christians in the Balkans, I'm not sure what McCain's foreign relations experience is.

The REAL ELECTION is not until November 2008.
Nobody has to choose right now except the state of Iowa.
And that is just for delagates to the national convention next summer.

We really are getting little value for our money when candidates spend billions of dollars on a campaign to see who gets to be President. The way some people act, it is probably a job to kill for. And it has been rumored some former candidates have actually made people disappear. But who has the momentum reaps in the big bucks. Money has corrupted our political system to the point that an honest, considerate candidate is torn down because he actually represents something that empowers the true American Dream.

You people act like the election is already over. It could very well be for your candidate when Fred wins all in Iowa.
At least according to the way you seem to conduct your anti Fred opinion polls on a Fred Thread.

“Well that’s because I’d pick Mitt before McCain, at least on most days.”

Thank you for your honest answer.

A lot of these Mitt-bashers are talking themselves into a box canyon of their own making...

“I hope you put on your flame retardant suit.

My guess is a major endorsement. Secondly it would be that he chooses a running mate.”

He’s running for a second term. /heavy sarc

People forget Romney, Sr. had the equivalent of a “Dean Scream” meltdown.

I can’t remember the details, but it was something about being “brainwashed against the war” in Vietnam -— taken out of context and unfair, but just really politically stupid things to say.

Anyway, Romney, Sr. was a big anti-war RINO and had no support in the party, and slunk away a defeated man.

He was bitter, and this run by Jr. is pretty obviously a way to try to redeem Sr.

“Erratic and borderline nut case. Similar to the Bogart character in the movie Caine Mutiny.

He’s a conservative who left the reservation some time ago to suck up to the liberal MSM and therefore cannot be trusted.

But give him kudos for his strong support of the troops during the surge.

I place higher value on a candidate’s character than where he stands on the issues.

This country needs statesmen not pandering politicians”

How do you feel about his attacks on Rumsfeld?

I do not trust Governor Romney enough to vote for him. That box canyon is not of my making. I could support an LDS for president. Governor Romney is not that man, however.

Of the other three, Rudy is more honest about his Liberal ways, but no vote from me.

Governor Huckabee suffers the same problem as Governor Romney - lack of credibility and too many Liberal stances in his recent past.

McCain is insane and has too much betrayal in his past.

I would hope the Republican primary voters won’t force me into the box canyon of no one to vote for in the general election. It will be interesting to see the first actual results.

“Yep. The original post and topic of this thread—the “surprise” announcement, hinting knowingly at some major coup for the candidate—is Exhibit A on why any candidate’s biggest headache is “helpful” supporters. The competition or outright adversaries you can deal with; it’s well-meaning friends that’ll drive you nuts.”

Words of wisdom.

“BTW, for what country did you serve in the military?”

This comment was uncalled for..

The poster is obviously an American citizen who sacrificed 20 years in the military so you could post this garbage.

And please don’t respond with ‘I was only asking a question’, because I’m not that naive, or anyone else for that matter, to think you wouldn’t know.

And if anyone can recognize a box canyon of their own making, it would have to be Mitt-sters.

“You commenting style is interestingly void of content. You just pop off a lot. LOL!”

Considering the lack of content on this thread, I should fit in perfectly.

Has that announcement ever shown up?

LLMAO!

“Romney, Jr would never have gotten it off the ground, but for Daddy’s money and connections”

Harvard also brought us John B sKerry and many other left wing poly sci operatives who have contaminated every cabinet in government with their liberal socialist influences.

That, my fellow Freeper, is called political nepotism.
We have politicians being raised in their daddy and grand daddy’s shadows to be politicians. The political “familys” have the arrogance of royalty. Name brand recognition generates connections in politics that very few outsiders could ever make. Al Gore is a prime example of riding his daddy’s coat tails. And Daddy Gore got a lot of money from Standard Oil (Armand Hammer) by brokering oil drilling deals in communist USSR.

Favors like that are re-paid for generations.
Nobody ever set me up in a business that made me 300 million bucks. But then my daddy wasn’t politically connected. He was just a successful middle class businessman. In the world of politics, middle class business experience carrys no weight. Gotta broker million dollar deals to be successful.
