Rumor circulating on the Fred08 blog that there is going to be a major "surprise" announcement coming this morning.

Perhaps an NRA endorsement or a major political figure?

It’s 3:50 EST right now. Do you mean 4:30 EST? I want to hear it if I can.

GCC,

That is correct Sir.

BTW, Fred asked for about $250,000 in donations this am for a TV add.

He is up to 25,870 as I type!

GO Fred!

And his business was????? A lawyer perhaps?? nuff said.

Are you really that stupid? He has a JD as well as his MBA, but he didn't practice law. He was a consultant for a management firm and then co-founded Bain Capital, the company behind the success of Staples, Brookstone, Domino's, Sealy Corporation and Sports Authority.

There are reasons out there to dislike Romney, and I'm not going to try to convince you to vote for him. But that doesn't justify your idiotic slander; he was a successful and legitimate businessman.

Don't retract your statement, if that's your wish, but you just leave yourself looking foolish.

Thanks. I think it might finally be a good time for this poor college student to pony up a donation.

It’s not FR. It’s the posters. The conservative wing is very divided because of a lack of candidates with conservative credentials.

There seems to be an awful lot of posts here on FR in recent times that aren’t very conservative. Or at least people seem easily persuaded to shed certain conservative ideals.

Politics is corrupting.

It’s my understanding he did it in a sarcastic way to put you and people like you in your place.

Kinda like when rush calls obama the majic negro.

Wow! He's got over 10% already and he only asked this morning. That's very impressive.

4truth,

Disruptions can have the effect of neutralizing the status quo. Given the current state of the political machine, we need more disruptions. Currently we have problems getting the leadership’s attention, let alone due consideration for what the people want.
Then again, sometimes the strong carry out their own disruptions to try to intimidate their opposition.
A fight is a fight. Works both ways.

I wish I could be there and stand up for Fred but I am a Texan and they wouldn’t let me in the door.

I love Fred!

“Uhhh...are you aware Fred has called his wife that term?”

Context of Fred’s comment:

...................

Well, the Associated Press is currently running one of the sillier features of the current presidential campaign — “dumb personal questions of the day.” And having seen three of the questions so far, I’d have to say that Fred Thompson is demonstrating the most presidential wit.

Thompson’s attitude seems to be “this is stupid, and I’m not going to treat it seriously. Instead, I’m going to simply give answers that take the crap you people have flung at me and give it right back to you — in one or two words.”

The first question was “what was your childhood nickname?” Fred’s answer? “Mr. President.”

The second one was “what is your most prized personal possession?” “Trophy wife.”

As soon as I saw the third question, I knew the answer. “What do you like to do on a lazy day?” I said “run for president,” but that was too wordy. Thompson cropped it down to “campaigning.”

The hits on Thompson have been that he got a late start, he’s lazy, and he has a trophy wife. Here he’s taken each of them and tossed them right back in the face of the AP.

THat doesn’t make any sense.

If we only have one or two candidates with conservative credentials, why is the right wing divided? No, there’s something else going on here that is very scary to me. Conservatives support candidates for reasons other than conservatism. Too many people don’t give a dam about principle, the constitution, or this country.

And I’m not even including democrats in my assessment. I’m talking about republicans only. ONce the democrats are added into the mix, things really get depressing.
