Rumor circulating on the Fred08 blog that there is going to be a major "surprise" announcement coming this morning.
Perhaps an NRA endorsement or a major political figure?

Polls are the worst thing ever. Nothing but a tool of misinformation.

A significant majority of those who took the Free Republic poll selected Fred. Do you question THAT result?

Go look at post #195. By a wide margin, FReepers prefer Fred.

It was never promised that Fred would personally announce anything. Sean, from his campaign, told supporters to watch for an announcement on the web site today which turned out to be a plan to roll out a new ad in Iowa and a 2 day fund raiser to help pay for it.

I disagree Kimberly, look at the FR polls and you will see that Fred Thompson is supported by a vast majority freepers. The man appeal to the internet political junkies and many talk show hosts because they see him as the most conservative from ideological point of view but at the same they are pulling their hair because he is not appealing to the non political junkies Republican base and accusing the base of being made of idiots and sheeple.
Regarding your question about what will FR do if Guiliani wins the nomination? I think most members will attack him ten times more than they will attack the democrat nominee, and that is a very sad thing even though Guiliani is not a conservative but he is vastly better than any democrat nominee.

I did not get banned. But I now know better than to try and make a funny about Jeri in a Thompson thread. My first comment ever pulled...

That's the Romney Sleaze Machine Prime Directive. It's the kind of thing that has driven Slick Willard's negatives to 47%.Yup...SOP for them. I just can't believe that so many have fallen for the "slick" image and lies.

As one can see, Fred had the ole Fred look even when he was young. Fred is around 30 in this Watergate photo.

Thanks. It is impossible to get that kind of information on threads like this without specifically asking and somebody specifically answering.

How do you feel about the way Fred backers constantly have to take a dump on Mitt? Phonies, panderers, flip floppers, and sclickmeisters need to be dumped on hard and often.

And, Im wondering what the heck Free Republic would do if Guiliani were the nominee? Not going to happen, so don't worry about it.

The goal is about $250,000 and it looks like they have raised over $15,000 so far.

Your post is a typical political analyst answer.
Here is the simple fact that make a man win the Presidency: LIKBABILITY, LIKABILITY, LIKABILITY.
He who connects better with the non political junkies who constitute 99% of the Republican base and the voting public in general and he who is liked most by them is going to win the Republican party nomination and the Presidency. People have to like someone first and connect to him and then they will analyze his message and his stands on the issues. The main reason why Hillary Clinton is not going to be elected President is that she is the most unlikable and meanest candidate to run for President.
