The last thing Albuquerque needs is more cops. Back in 1975, the Albuquerque police went on strike.
The crime rate went DOWN.
Citizens responded to the strike by patrolling their neighborhoods with their shotguns and such, and I would guess it was understood by the criminals that there would be no prisoners taken. The strike collapsed in a little while

No freakin kidding--I looked it up and Albuquerque has a population of about 450K and 1100 cops. That does NOT include those in the "Police--Other" category like 911 dispatchers, etc. The town where I live has a population of 30K and 53 police officers. If we extrapolated to 450K, you'd have barely 750 officers.
But your crime rate is more than TRIPLE ours. Then again, Farmington (where I went to HS) has more cops per capita than Albuquerque and the crime there still sucks.
