Fox News has long been considered a beacon to those that distrust televised liberal media, meaning every channel other than Fox. One of the indicators of the stations right-leaning bent is that it has, for the most part, gotten the War on Terrorism correct. However, with the undue influence of a Saudi Prince related to militant causes and with this months acquisition of Beliefnet, a religious resource website that proudly promotes radical Islam, signs show that the war coverage may soon be taking a turn for the worse.
In September of 2005, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal purchased 5.46 per cent of Class B voting shares in News Corp, the company that owns Fox News and a number of other media and entertainment entities. This had replaced the three per cent stake in Class A non-voting shares bin Talal had previously held through his investment corporation, Kingdom Holding Company (KHC).
With his newfound voting rights, bin Talal stated his intention of supporting Rupert Murdoch, the principal owner of News Corp, helping Murdoch to stay in power and avoid hostile takeover by other interested investors. Some have said that this was like making a deal with the devil, as Murdoch has been left vulnerable to the whims of an individual that has been involved in despicable causes.

ABC turned down Rush Limbaugh, but when they found out how profitable his show was they launched Hannity.
If Fox were to go liberal instead of fair and balanced its revenues would drop to far less than CNN. CNN would be in first place again with its current audience and the Fox audience would approach zero.
Murdock would fire his son and put someone else in charge.
Murdock made Fox what it is to serve an unserved audience. If CNN, MBNBC, and CNBC had been conservative Murdock would have made Fox lefist and Liberal.
It is all about dollars not ideology.
I hope you’re right, C.T. The reason why I have cable is because of FOX. Watching CNN and being a card carrying member of the NRA? Bad combination, believe me.
If FNC goes leftie the vacuum created will be huge and will be filled quickly. In fact, I think a for-real conservative cable news network is already sorely lacking. FNC succeeds by merely being “not liberal.” Or, “not ALWAYS liberal.” An unabashedly conservative channel would likely surpass all others including FNC.
when that subtle shift occurs it will be time to go channel surfing again til the RIGHT program comes on...
We already watch FOX much less than we did several years back when FOX was on 24/7.
When Geraldo comes on any show at all the TV goes off or the channel gets changed.
And he has started showing up everywhere on FOX.
They seem to be looking for a way to get something out of the millions they are paying him but he has to be costing them a lot of viewers.
Same thing happens when Greta comes on.
We’ve seen enough of Aruba, Anna Nicole Smith and the missing female of the week.
Same thing happens when one of their certified muslim apologists comes on to enlighten us about the poor misunderstood muslims.
This all accounts for quite a bit of time.
If we wanted to watch crap TV like this there are plenty of other optons.
All my family and most friends quit watching FOX news or any other news station - we all agree it’s changed and not for the better. Used to watch the Weather Channel but not any more - it’s gotten really bizarre. HGTV, Cops, sometimes the Discovery Channel and BBC news. Pretty sad to have 862 channels of garbage but I keep it because there are some good programs for my grandchildren. Really wish we had at least one good news station.
wait, wait, wait, you mean a station gets a couple of conservative commentators and it is suddenly right wing.....but then watch a few minutes of fox and friends...if you can bear it and you realize its pretty much like every other news network.
Funny how one night Dennis Miller said this very same thing to BOR.Miller gets it for sure.FAUX is going left from what I can tell.JMO
Someone, or govt gave the word to cut talk on enforcing the border.
I saw this occur around the start of the amnesty bill this summer.
Fox New suddenly became silent on enforcing the border.
I have not been back to watch Fox since then.
They seem like an entirely different channel now, I emailed them numerous times. They don’t care.
And they certainly have forgotten Freepublic played a big part in the increase of their numbers in the days O’Reilly wanted to beat Larry King. FR helped Fox News through word of mouth.
And now, through word of mouth Fox News will gradually begin to lose numbers.
Too bad!
Murdoch is a capitalist and wants to see profits for himself and his stockholders. If he allows Fox News to slip into the liberal abyss the number of viewers would quickly plummet to the levels of CNN and MSNBC and his profits would be gone. Given the choice the American people would rather have their news fair and balanced than liberally biased.
Imagine a news net with commentary in which Dennis Miller or Ron Silver or both are the “liberals.” It wouldn’t just be good discussion without all the moonbattiness but a place where serious ideas could really get a workout. I consider myself pretty damn conservative but have sometimes ended up as the “liberal” in discussions with friends over specific matters. Those have been some of the most interesting conversations I’ve ever had. Translate the to-and-fro of conservative thought to a TV network and you’ll really have something.
And, hey. It’s worked pretty well on the radio, hasn’t it?
YUP! Ron Silver is a liberal who gets it.I guess that makes him a classical liberal?I dont think Miller is left at all.More to the right on so many issues.
I’m a great Miller fan, always have been, but he does drift left on some issues. Classical liberal does seem to fit Silver. I think Bush tends toward classical liberal too. I’ve always thought that “compassionate conservative” meant “oldtime liberal” and it wasn’t really his fault but ours if we misunderstood it—or, misunderestimated it. When I’m feeling good about Bush I shrug it all off. But I started my political life as a campaign volunteer for Barry Goldwater when I was 14 years old. So, whenever I’m pissed with Bush about something, I take the phrase “compassionate conservative” as a personal insult.
I will buy that.I,like you, dont like the term compasionate conservative either.I like to say that Im to the right of Attila the Hun.In that I mean my country, may she always be right but, my country right or wrong.
Agree! We have become great fans of the Food Network!
“...my ocutnry right or wrong...”
My country right or wrong gets tough though when you’re watching Bill Clinton’s lame ass presidency, or Carter’s, ugh. Sometimes I feel like a new conservative diaspora needs to be formalized because like I said somewhere on here there are a lotta times I feel I have more in common with Nick Sarkozy than I do most of the moron blue-staters who live in my neighborhood. Or, there’s a guy living in hut in Nigeria who happens to be a conservative—”that guy right or wrong.”
Funny that we would be agreeing with the president of france.Who knew!I am right there with ya.
