Zogby Poll: Obama Leads Top Republicans
Telephone survey shows fellow Democrats Hillary Clinton and John Edwards would defeat some GOPers, lose to others
UTICA, New York - Illinois Sen. Barack Obama would defeat all five of the top Republicans in prospective general election contests, performing better than either of his two top rivals, a new Zogby telephone poll shows.
His margins of advantage range from a 4 percent edge over Arizona Sen. John McCain and a 5 percent edge over Arkansas Mike Huckabee to an 18 percentage point lead over Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, the survey shows. Against New Yorks Rudy Giuliani he leads by 9%, and against Fred Thompson of Tennessee he holds a 16 point edge.
The telephone survey included 1,000 likely voters nationwide and carries a margin of error of +/ 3.2 percentage points. The poll was conducted Dec. 1214, 2007.
Democrat Hillary Clinton of New York would defeat Romney by a narrow 46% to 44% margin and Thompson by a 48% to 42% margin. She would lose to Huckabee 48% to 43%, to Giuliani 46% to 42%, and to McCain by a 49% to 42% margin. The data suggest that Clinton has improved her position slightly. A November Zogby Interactive poll showed her losing by small margins to all five of the top GOP candidates.

Not phased in the least.
National polls are highly irrelevent. What matters are the states, and in those we win if the nominee is Romney. We take Michigan and New Hampshire back for the Republican MAJORITY (which is where most people really are), and Hillary can’t win.
This sounds like it’s shaping up to be another Jimmy Carter type election cycle.
People are honestly saying a guy with two years experience in the US Senate, and runs maybe a staff of 90 or 100(his chief of staff really does that)can get elected?
On the other hand, it’s Zogby and he probably polled a ton of Democrats(I hope).
How convenient that the 2 candidates who are causing the biggest rift and get the most visceral response from true conservatives just happen to be the two that miraculously can compete with Hillary and Obama according to special sauce boy.
I wouldn’t trust anything Zogby says after his disasterous polling in the 2004 election.
Oh Boy!
Zogby Special Sauce.
You have a prove track record of continually backing closet Leftist political candidates simply on the bases of having once upon a time worn a military uniform Why should any Conservative listen to you given your disastrous track record of pick the wrong candidate for the wrong reason?
Pure b.s. Barack Hussein Obama isn’t going to beat anyone. There’s no way...even if Oprah adopts him and pays for his campaign.
The empty suit is endorsed by Oprah. Oprah sees America as a giant nursery and the president as our nanny. Osama Obama’s big ears would be fun to pull when us tiny tots are getting a horsey ride from him.
oh well, why even bother with the election?
I fear Obama, aka The Zero Gravitas Empty Suit, in the least. One on one against any of the leading GOP contenders he will look like such a lightweight, devoid of any substance whatsoever.
once the primaries get rolling, and 1-2 pubs are in the fore front, its going to be quite a constest....
then again, this might be all the Msm and the globalists agenda...defeat people by not speaking of them,
My bad, these are the correct numbers:
McCain 49 - Hillary 42
Huckabee 48 - Hillary 43
Giuliani 46 - Hillary 42
Romney 44 - Hillary 46
Thompson 42 - Hillary 48
You probably remember that Zogby had Kerry winning in 06 pretty much right up until the end.
Zogby interviewed the west side of Manhattan.
And assorted others in NY State’s frightfully depressed inner cities.
