Are there really still people who “believe” that the earth is flat? I mean, even in the days of Chris Columbus, pretty much everybody who knew stuff knew it was round.
Chris Columbus just thought it was a lot smaller than it actually was.
Is that a joke? Of course there are.
There are people who believe in all seriousness that aliens from another planet traveled across the entire galaxy, found us, and stopped to build large piles of stone for no apparent reason and then left without any other trace.
The Flat Earth Society website
More serious than the other one - there are a few - but still quite a bit to take seriously.
I thought even the ancient Greeks knew it was round, estimated the size far better than in Columbus's day, and hypothesized a large land mass on the other side.
I always just assumed the Flat Earth Society was really just a thumb-the-nose gesture at modernity.
There are people who believe the Earth is only 6000 years old (some on this forum). Google “Young Earth” sometime. The extreme young earthers believe the universe is only 6000 years old.
